So is the 60 thought to have a better tone due to this? What does this equate to in the real world when comparing the 30 to the 60?

As cjl5150 says, it's horses for courses really; if you need many different tones for recording, get the TM30. On the other hand, the TM60 is preferable for live gigs (both for headroom and footswitch-provided flexibility).

Nice! You have any clips? If not would you care to make some fur us with that nice Axis you got there? :D

Go to my band's website, www.truetoolife.com. I remember I recorded the Melissa Etheridge cover with the TM60 direct to the board via onboard Sansamp with no effects (unless some were added during the mix and mastering) and IIRC my Ibanez PGM.

I gig with a Trademark 60, and I have a Power Engine 60 combo also. Great amps, best SS amp I've owned. Cool tones, lightweight, takes pedals great or behaves just fine by itself. Live, I DI from the on-board Sansamp, which sounds better than miking it to my ear.

And the Tech 21 stuff is bulletproof in construction. My TM60 has survived some stuff that would have killed a lotta other amps.

Now that is a rig that I would like to have a play through!

I have always admired the Tech21 gear. Shame you never really see it in stores to try out.

I had one of those. It was a beauty, but I finally sold it. Didn't lose a dime. :D

I actually think the Trademark 30 is WAY more versatile than the 60. There are more tonal options on the 30. The 30 is the best solid state amp around. Just sounds great and killer distortion. Plenty loud for little clubs and you're going to mic it anyway.

Also, I used a Power Engine 60 and PSA-1 for years and years. I think it sounded amazing. It's not tube, but it does sound great at least for super high gain distortion. KILLED some tube rack effects, at least to my ears.
