There's one for sale locally for 1,100 euros. I didn't try it today when I saw it but I'm getting interested. I've never played a Luke however. I know it has EMGs but the SL ones are warmer and seem like they have a bit more characters than the stereotypical 81/85 combo.

Would I expect a big difference going from the Axis to Luke..? In terms of feel and neck..?

The Luke has a flatter fingerboard which I love and a smaller soft v neck shape. The sound is not really sterile but it very clean, I think this is partly due to the bodywood alder which works well for clean precise sounding guitars. The Axis is more of a fat tone kind of guitar imo which alot of people love too.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the 85 in the bridge and the two singles. Have you heard any Lukather tones from his albums, it is easy to hear the sound of this guitar on his records.

Oooh soft V and Alder eh..? This could actually be a mean Blues machine (pickups can always go..)!

I've got a little stashed up. May just have to try her...

The Luke is dinky compared to a Axis or JP, but the EMG combo really works, so much clarity and great forr studio use.
I have no regrets about getting a Luke, covers so much ground and works over most styles.

OK, this is just me and not the majority.

After 5 years on the Axis, I traded it in for a Luke thinking I was ok with it. It was returned after 5 days.

I didn’t like the V neck or the 85. The Axis neck & pups are the best! IMHO.
