This should be fun watching A.D. go through bass identity crisis. The BA seems to really mess with those Bongoloids. Just look what it did to Jack. ;)

A D , I bet I see a double gig bag in your future if you don't already have one. Tone monster approaching, have fun.

Yeah, you're screwed. :D

I still have my first two Bongos, and have owned 5, in total. But, I simply adore my 5H Big Al. And, I can't wait until I can afford to add a 5SSS to my collection. My reasons for liking both instruments are similar--They are both "the road less taken" in terms of visual styling. The Big Al preamp is the evolution of the Bongo preamp--the Bongo preamp being my favorite Bongo feature. They are two of the most balanced shapes I've played.

Nothing to be ashamed of for a Bongoloid. You're just going to have to change your signature a bit. :D

That's a very smart bass A Douglas - I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it. My prediction.......I think you may well buy it. The only problem I'd have with that particular spec is I'd really want a roasted Bongo as well!

Black ain't my thing. I'd dearly love to have a roasted neck, but not on that body. Since it's unlikely that the company is going to make roasted necks a production option, it looks like I'd have to give it a miss.

sorry! It was just a wild guess! If i was buying anything right now those colours are v appealing - as you say orange is more nutritional but air has more immediate necessity?!!

I may be a lone dissenter here. I love my BA4 SSS. It has its place in my stable. The options when recording are mind boggling. I really love what the BA gives as far as a tonal palette. I just can’t quite get the sound that seems to fit every song live unless I’m using my Bongo 4H. Depending on the venue, I might have the BA along for the ride but the Bongo is usually on my shoulder at live shows. Sorry AD, I’m not trying to rain on your parade.

Or maybe your Bongo ray is just saturating the Denver area…

That is exactly why I want to try one before ordering. I need to find out if it will do what I want it to do.

I feel very fortunate to be part of a community that will allow me to do that.

Of course, you're all just a bunch of enablers, but that's okay.
