Little did I think that back in 2005 I would completely alter my style of guitar from a 3 pickup Les Paul custom to a 3 single coil pickup Albert Lee.
At the time I was returning from a loooooooooong break from guitar playing, and was a gnats whisker from getting a Tele with a B bender. Searching around you tube at the time on B benders, I stumbled across Albert Lee. I remembered him from his Heads Hands and feet days but had paid little attention to him.
Then I heard his tone and became interested in the guitar he was playing. It came flooding back to me that a friend had seen him play in Cardiff and met him after the show - He had a convo with Albert about his great tone and his guitar.
So one day whilst mooching around in Cardiff Guitars there was a brand new Albert Lee. I tried it and was hooked!! I joinned the forum and asked all the newbie questions and was shocked when BP called me a Knucklehead - of course I soon realised that it was his term of endearment.
Then I heard the Piezo on another EB guitar played thro an AER, and that was it - I just had to have an AL with Piezo.
I managed to negotiate a good deal on my Black Cherry Burst Albert with Cardiff Guitars, sold off bits and bobs and the rest is history as they say. The Les Paul is consigned to it's case and after blowing the cobwebs away I'm gigging again in a covers band.
I'm still amazed by the guys on here who can sweep pick, do the EVH taps and listening to someone like Dean or Musikarero, Mike Baugh, Ivan,Jamie H, Halif, Johnny dubai who I met in Dubai but really could do much on his guitar as it was set up for his awesome style,Lukather101 also when he brought his old Morse around for some TLC- all great players - I hope I can pick up some of their techniques
Later on I was like a kid in a sweet shop helping out S & T at exhibitions and met knuckleheads at the bashes.
So where has the time gone?
Logging onto the forum has become a daily routine, guitar on my lap remembering things I had forgotten on the guitar.
So here we are 10K posts later . whowouldhavethoughtit??
