First off, forgive my newbieness. You probably have or have heard a million or so stories just like this, but I can't help it. I am just thrilled right now.

I saw the price of the VAX bass drop considerably about a month ago and thought "what the heck, it's my birthday in a month and I can't think of anything else at the moment" so I ordered one. Besides, I kinda liked the bass I had and wouldn't have to trade it for the new one. Long story short, after waiting 2 weeks past the promised date with no one being able to get a response from the manufacturer, I started looking at other options.

I only knew the Stingray by reputation and maybe pulling one off the wall at GC once just to see how it felt but after shopping around online for about a week, I decided to call the guy I ordered the VAX from an ask if he had an SR5 HH. He said he had one in stock, but couldn't even tell me what color it was. He just said it looked vintage with a cool pick guard. I told him I would be there later to look at it and possibly trade my old bass.

I sat down for about 2 minutes with that SR5 and fell in love. It was in bad need of adjustment...the strings were about 1/4 inch off the neck at the 12th and all you got was fret buzz from about the 9th up, but I couldn't believe the sound that was coming from that bass or how easy it was to play. The look, the feel, the sound...everthing about it was incredible.

I jumped on it...got about 1/3 of what I payed for my old bass, but man was it worth it. I spent the whole next day getting her adjusted properly and tuning my rig, which by the way has never sounded so good. I always knew that I had a good amp setup, but there was always something missing until now. I am thrilled. I've had some good basses, but nothing like this. I swear I'll never own any other bass than an EBMM...ever.

Welcome! You have one GORGEOUS bass there! Honeyburst is my favorite EBMM finish. If I ever get another SR5 (other than the 20th anniversary model....hopefully!), it'll be honeyburst & will look great with my honeyburst SR4.

Tort looks great with the Honey. I've gotta jump on that. Man, I've been on a pickguard jag for the last few weeks - haven't even tried the black pearl I got from Travis yet and I'm already jonesing for a tort AND a white pearloid. It IS a sickness. :)

Grand Haven, MI huh? I am in Grand Rapids. What store do you shop at in your area?

I got this one at GC.

Every other bass I ever owned came from Del's in Holland, . I've gotten two from Firehouse since they bought Del's, but it hasn't been the same. Nothing wrong with the guitars, but they seem to have a hard time getting their hands on anything that isn't in the store at that very moment. I've had a lot of disappointment trying to order things through them. Besides, they don't sell EBMM so they're not much good to me anymore.

Where do you shop?

welcome Im holding you to that promise of only owning our stuff...

I Have owned So many different Basses over the years and there is nothing like the feel and Tone of an Ernie Ball stingray or sterling, no other bass will come close to that sound.
So needless to say
One more Bass can't hurt anyone.

Thanks. BTW, is there a way to make my SR5 sound like an upright bass or a synth?................what was I thinking?
