Thanks BP for the Sterling!

I just got my 4th Sterling today and played it for an hour. I didn't have to adjust anything, just plugged it in and played. More than any other bass out there, this is the ONE for me these days. The neck feels perfect, it sounds great, and it's not too hard for me to find them in the 8.2 - 8.6 lb range.

The only thing better than a Sterling bass is a Sterling HH bass!

My first Sterling was an early one with a unlined fretless pau ferro board, & I was honestly disappointed with its tone--as a result, I avoided Sterlings for years. Last year, I ended up with a single H, fretted maple neck Sterling as a result of a trade deal--& that flipped my opinion of the Sterling's tone 180 degrees. I love the way that little sucker plays & sounds. Hopefully, I'll score another somewhere down the road.

BTW, my unlined DD SR fretless has a similar tonal character to my first Sterling. However, it works great for me these days. In the last several years, I've come to realize that my tastes in basses are always changing--so I periodically go back & revisit basses that fell out of favor & find that they often become a new favorite. There are no absolutes when it comes to the "best bass for me".

I always liked the way my Sting Ray felt so I never got around to trying one out until about a year ago. I really like the way it felt but I'm stuck playing 5's most of the time. Soon that won't be a problem!

Ah, Brad...no wonder you been "offing" some of your "off-brand" basses. Hey, I was a lucky recipient of a couple of those, though, but I still favor my MM basses.

Sterling basses are definitely the bomb! There's something about them that just sings. Can't wait for the 5-string.

The grain on yours is great, by the way.

I think I'm an 'awesome wood grain' fanboy, I find myself always complementing other people's wood grain.

That pic does darken the wood a bit but it's got a really rich color to it.

It's a 2 piece body, Gav - and it's only 8.5 lbs.

I agree. The Sterling is my all time favorite bass. However, I dont agree that a HH is better than an H for my own needs I love me the series/single/parallel switch too much.
