I cannot begin to explain how honored I feel to have known him. He is sorely missed, but his memory and passion live on in the Ball family.
I love how he used to pretend like he was going to hit Aimee Fisher and I in those huge old cars of his when we were on our walks at afternoon break around the SLO building. It would make him laaaaaugh!
and Sterling, with the stuff you pull, I'm sure your Pops has got a big grin or atleast a sore neck from shaking his head from the resident angelic ones saying "hey Ernie, did ya get a load of what Sterling's got going on down there now?!?"
all the best
To a great man who not only was responsible for the addiction those of us here have today, but who also led a varied and colorful life. We thank him for his contributions to the musicians of the world and for leaving us his offspring to continue the work he started.
Cheer Ernie! We know your spirit is in every bass, guitar and string that comes to us with your name on it.
I've been faithful Slinky user since the late 70's for my guitars and now basses and am still using the Ernie Ball strap I purchased way back when in some obscure shop in San Francisco...my lucky strap if you will .
First time I heard the name Ernie Ball was the day I got my first guitar in 1989... The salesman talked me into paying an extra £1 to get a set of the "best" strings there are. One of the few occasions I'd say a guitar shop assistant wasn't talking through his arse. No brown nose intended.
