I have wondered for a while if it was Ernie Ball MM that came up with the wonderful truss rod wheel adjusting nut. This innovation has appeared on basses from several makers including MM, Fender and Peavey and I just got curious about who designed it.

Yes, I know, sometimes my mind dwells on odd details.

Not sure who designed it, but EBMM was definitely the company that popularized it. From there I saw it migrate with EVH to Peavey, and then apparently it migrated with him again to Fender, who produces the current EVH-branded items.

It really is a great system.

EBMM has got me spoiled with the truss wheel. I also work as an artist rep and sales rep for another guitar manufacturer that is smaller than EBMM. One of the things I have suggested we add is a truss wheel to our guitars and basses because I love the ones on all of my EBMM instruments.

It’s definitely one of my favourite features, doesn’t require a special tool. It’s perfect (I personally use a torx screwdriver T20. I find it fits perfect, it’s tapered so no chance of it slipping off and. Well you get the idea)

I bought a small screw driver and ground the tip off works perfectly.
