130?!?!?!? Man, I heard you had a ton, but my God....

Let me ask, what was your first MM and were you playing something else at the time of the discovery? Just curious as to how you came about MM's that certainly has you ADDICTED more than anyone else here!

Out of all ones you own....pick your favorite one and post a pic if you would. Much appreciated.

Non like the Fenders I once owned it was much easier to narrow it down to one or two as my favorites, But with these Ernie Ball Music man's it's much Harder because they are all so great, I go through cycles. I do play alot and I use all of these basses. none ever gets put aside as a collectable. They are all Just great tools that gets used.

By 1976 I had a fender collection of 80 Fender basses from 1951 to 1966. In Canada where I'm from I was well known as a Fender guy when a Local Music store called Strings & Things had called me to introduce me to a new Bass by Leo Fender called the Music Man Stingray.

I went down and tried it, Loved it and I remember it weighing 11.5 pounds which at that time was no big deal. So between 1976 and 1979 I had Purchased about 50 of these basses. 1980 til 1984 I had noticed the quality seemed to drop alot.

Even with the 1976 til 1979 I had my problems with the necks and spent alot of time adjusting them. So by 1980/81 I went back to Fender Basses because they never needed nothing. They we're perfect just as they we're.

It wasn't til 1986 when on tour out in Cali when we had dropped into a Local GC in San Francisco and they had a white 1986 Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray.

I thought Ernie Ball, whats up with that. I Played it for 2 minutes and said case it up I'm buying this one. The quality was like non I'd ever seen on any music man bass to date. That was it. Every town we hit I bought what ones the stores had in stock. Remember to back then these Ernie Ball Basses we rare because they just weren't making them in huge quanities due to the small factory.

But when I found them I bought them and now you have my Ernie Ball Music Man Story/addiction. DJ

Awesome story - thanks Dave! :)

It's great to hear from folks with personal experience - love the timeline and the differences in the basses you noted along the way.

Wow, that's some dedication. Ok, now I can see why you own 5 30ths. Heck, 5/130 isn't such a bad ratio when you take that into consideration. :D

Some of his Stuff is Cool, I knew Waylon Better and met Shooter one time when he was maybe 10 or 11, but I don't fallow Shooters career at all. I'm sure he'll do well.

I just want to add that I got to chat on the phone one day with Dave, and what a cool fella he is. Had TONS of knowledge about EBMM basses, and other basses as well. Got to hear about some of his products and collection. I got off the phone and said , "Now THAT is a neat guy".
