I just heard today from the dealer I'm ordering my Petrucci from that because of a bad load of wood all the guitars are being pushed back three weeks. I'm am so excited I can hardly wait. I know it will be great but the wait was already killing me before. Now, it's killing me three weeks worth more. Oh well, at least I'm getting a guitar from a company that actually cares about the quality of the wood. But the agony.... :(

Um..That is news to me....I have not heard of any "bad wood"...I will investigate tomorrow. What sort of time span did your dealer give you? And what is store's name?

Chris, I called EB again today & spoke with Azia (Scott B. is out until next week) - She said they had a problem in the wood shop which I misunderstood as "bad wood" - everything is about 3 weeks behind. She said your guitar should be done around Aug 17-20. I wish things could move a bit faster, but I would sacrifice time for quality any day. BTW, now I have 17 guitars on backorder, and am ordering more next week.

The store is DuBaldo Music Center in Manchester CT. When the initial order was placed about 2 months ago, Scott Ball said it would be ready at the end of July, so that is what I gave Chris/deadringer as the estimated date.

Wow, this thread has got a lot more attention than I ever intended.

Pete you are the man! I wasn't trying to bitch about you in this post, I was just sharing my sadness with guys that I knew could appreciate playing the waiting game. I've had nothing but good experiences with you since before we placed the order. :D

As far as the delay goes, it was one of those good news / bad news things. You hate to have to wait longer but you love that the company you ordered from cares that much about quality. This is pretty much the price you pay for working with a small company with high standards. It's well worth it. :D

There's something to be said for good, salt of the earth folk....not enough of em around but it looks like as a community of EBMM fanatics we all ended up in the same place.

Chillllllllll dood! I got news for ya..... I ordered my Custom Axis back on March 2nd bro and GC got a recieve date on it of June 24th! Guess what????? It's not here and nor will it be here for a while. They project another 4 weeks but I was told it could be pushed to the end of the year if a sick highly figured quilt top can't be acquired for it!

You wanna talk about impatient bro?? How's this.... It's fully paid for already and has been since the day I ordered but I will wait for perfection! :D And that perfection I hope better damm well include a highly figured birdseye maple neck and board dammit! :D

Hey, I'm not pissed at all! I spoke with the fine folks at Ernie Ball Music Man alot, (in reality about once a week). I truly understand their objective which is to put the single handed best instrument in the players hands when they purchase.

Realizing this is why I went with the Axis. I know this may sound dumb, but I never even picked one up to try it. All I did was walk into the local Guitar Center where my two very close friends work, one of which plays in my band and said...
"I want a quality guitar plain and simple! I wan't the best out there. Which way to I go?"
Their answer..... "Ernie Ball Music Man Axis."

And without even trying the one in the store I plunked down $2,300.00 and ordered on the spot.

I went for an Axis finished in Tobacco Sunburst with a matching headstock and a premium quilt top. The only three things other than that which I specified were to not shellac the neck and fingerboard like you see on every Les Paul out there and to please make sure the neck and fingerboard they place on my specific guitar is of as highly figured birdseye maple as possible. Last but not least, I wanted the sickest, most quilted top they could find

When I was told the necks were oil finished I was all smiles and that they would do their best to give me the neck and fingerboard as I specified I was more than elated. And they said that indeed only the sickest of Premium quilt tops would adorn my guitar.

I believe in them because I know in my heart they sound genuine. I would not have paid this in full otherwise and like I said I am willing to wait as long as it takes to get "perfection" in my hands! This is something I specify every week on the phone to customer service and that if it's not the best, hold off until you get the best. I don't care how long it takes. They understand and I trust in that.

So keep on your hunt for the best for me I know you can do it I am more than patient and confident in your abilities. In the meantime I'll be waiting here in Jersey for my phone call saying my new gem has arrived!

Proud to Be In The Ernie Ball Music Man Family Of Guitar And Bass Owners!

Peace!
