We all tend to spend so much time here we are bound to get on each others nerves once in awhile.

We don't own the place so imagine how much we get on the owners nerves. Now look at the tolerance the owner has displayed unto us.

After all we are bass players. Should be used to not having a say in things.

IMHO

Funny, I co-write most of my bands material......

We recently aquired a new guitarist (old one left/wasnt working out entirely) and are writing new material..once we record a demo in 2 weeks ill be sure to let anyone know whos interested. It might be a little different for you old timers (said with great respect <3). I wont even try to classify it in a genre..

For those of you that haven't been around here that long, I'm going to just say that you have no idea how tolerant and open minded the owner of this forum is.

Before you ask, I won't elaborate on this statement.

Does that mean if us old guys like it the younger crowd won't and you go back to the drawing board?

Just yanking your chain a bit and I am interested in hearing what ya got.

Heh, not at all, if any of you guys like it, itd be a pleasant surprise. We love playing this style of music, which is all that matters. At our previous gigs, we've been told a few things

a) our recordings dont hold a candle to our live performances
b) we have a very unique sound that is refreshing
c) none of our songs sound the same, also refreshing

Id tend to agree. The energy and feel of our music is tough to capture in recodings, which is why we dont record much.

That's why he said it defied genre I bet. Either that or he didn't want to scrap his songs over the wrong person liking them.

No, silly--if they are lead free, no one could play any heavy metal.

Figjam sounds very much like my band... hard to genralise...hard to capture on recordings.... though the songs we are less likelky to play live are the most likely to get commercial radio play (once we get a decent recording)..

Kevin, I am always interested in opinions and advice. I am, hopefully, smart enough to know how to shut up and try to learn from those who have more experience in any given field.

You may have missed some things that happened before you signed up. In fact, I know you did. Your string thread had very little to do with my call to focus; it was just one thread in a long history of threads that have been primarily about EBMM's competition. And, in any case, I didn't delete your thread. That was done by someone at the company, and I can't say whether or not there was conversation about it before it was deleted....but the thread was entirely about someone else's (not EB) strings, and I think we can agree that there are better places to explore that subject - yes?

Some people don't check in every day. The other consideration is that the 'rules', such as they are, concerning non-EBMM threads have been clearly expressed a number of times (like about, say, a million). I'd have to look to be sure, but I think the rule is also in the FAQ.

I didn't set out to 'exclude' you from the discussion and am perfectly willing to continue THIS discussion, in fact. You and I have had our share of perfectly civilized discussions and email exchanges and as I said elsewhere, this reminder was not directed at any one person, especially not you.

I have volunteered more than once to give up this high-paying job. My attempt to resign was refused. I think this means that BP is happy with the way I run things here, inasmuch as I actually run things to any extent. I try to be sensitive and I try to be considerate and I try to let people say what they want to say - within reason. If you disagree, then all I can say is that I'm sorry but they won't let me quit.

I don't want to lose even one member of the board. Everyone brings something unique to the table and I've always considered you a valuable contributor. If, however, you think I've been inconsiderate or heavy-handed and can't see your way clear to remain, then I will wish you the best of luck.

u can go away........
but i will just keep following u around........
so u might as well stick around.....:D

on the commune/community thing..

I think BP evoked "commune" for the idea that in a commune, everyone owns/shares a piece of the pie. This is the entitlement mindset he's talking about.
The reality is that EBMM owns this little corner of cyberspace and we're just loitering here. :)

Just my interpretation.
