I am still floating between Tilbury / Greenwich for work, I am off this Sunday night from Southampton docks on leisure. I thought I did say next week. (last week lol)

You probably did - anyway enjoy your hols - will it be a Bongo 6 or Silhouette order on return ;)

PS please remember there's a StingRay guy down in sunny Kent open minded to fully fledged Bongolia mind conversion if ever your Bongo 5 fancies further temporary travels after DTG :)

I have to concur....I always like to say.."I've seen a million basses, and I've rocked them all.." (parody of Bon Jovi song..) but I have owned and tried a lot of them, and the Bongo just does everything for me.

LOL you know the fightin' words. They are ugly and mean and beat up Fenders all day long then in the middle of the night they get meaner and uglier and start eating warwicks and Ricks.

My Bongo is my friend. :D

The design needs modified. BP you need to go ahead and knock the corner off the headstocks before you ship them. :D

When I first saw the Bongo, I didn't like it. I too thought it was kind of ugly but I remember BP responding to my post saying to give it time. Sure enough, the bass started growing on me and now I like the design. Probably around Monday, I should have my Bongo 4HH Dargies Delight II shipped out from Bass Central.

I can't say I liked the look of the Bongo originally either. It does grow on you.

I honestly didn't like the look of the Big Al either and it has grown on me as well. Now have one on order! :)

When i saw my first Bongo a few years back in a CG I thought it looked different. I could not tell if i liked it or not a that point. When they had one at a ridiculous price (599$ Rolls Burgandy 4HH) at a GC clearance, i had to own it. The look grew on me a lot with the first Bongo. I decided I didn't like that color so I traded that one for a Markbass CMD 102. Since I rescued a white Bongo 5HSp from GC and got it into the hands of someone who would truely appreciate it. I am truely a Bongoloid now... to the point i feel out of place playing my Stingray. I currently own a single H Bongo 4 in Ice Blue and the world famous "Smalleq" Fretless. JOSH

I liked them both immediately. I'm weird.

But we've been over this a million times over million posts and threads.

Fact is: the Bongo it's here and it's here to stay and it's here to demonstrate to a world of unbelievers that beneath a look that could be debatable as pretty or fugly lies an amazing instrument that is making a lot of competitors (both owners of other instruments and those who make them) green eyed and jealous.

Now... this thread is to glorify the Bongo not to diss it, those who like them feel free to add your thoughts but those who don't.... put some sugar on your lemon and swallow it quick :D

It is odd that the only people that call the Bongo ugly are folks that usually play F***** basses - or think that all EBMM basses should look like a P bass. I have met some of them and the vitriol is stunning - at first I did not know what to make of it. If the Bongo was made by another company it would not have the acceptance problems in regards to style. But for some reason many can't handle the move away from the same-ol same-ol style thing.

Since I will not be seen on a stage with anything that looks like a F***** - the Bongo was an easy choice. The fact that it sounds great and feels great is an added joy.

I will say that my HH and HS sound quite different. They even feel different - when I took the new HS out of the case and played it I immediately noticed the neck felt better, A set of calipers proved it was quite wider than my HH, There was also a difference in tone even when unplugged. So, it is nice to know that even in this day of CnC and machine made stuff - there is still differences form the parts that are hand finished and give the "Human Touch".

I never thought about putting "Vintage Bongos" in a vault for my son one day to be prosperous with though. Hmmmm.....

Hi, I'm new to the forum and to Music Man. I recently bought a beautiful Hot Rod Red Stingray Slo Special and I think it's the most beautiful bass I've ever seen! I didn't know what to think of the Bongo when I first saw it. It does grow on you! I'm thinking I might need one at some point.

You know, I was thinking if BP would let a youngster with a power sander loose on them and re-brand them as "Vintage" he probably not be able to make enough of 'em. ;)

Unfortunately they are pretty rare here in Germany. I have only physically touched one in my life and it was a 6 string

It took a while for the looks of the Bongo to grow on me but I love the sound of them! Same thing happend with the Big Al... First one I have seen was a DDII. I was holding a 25th in my hands when the sales rep showed it to me and as you can imagine my brain did not handle the extreme shift very well... Now I have serious GAS for a Big Al. Sometimes it takes a while for the brain to comprehend something new.
