The Bongo, the 'Berger and the Hearing Aid

I'm still a little unclear about why the Bongo in particular was bothering this person?
Cannot these beasts be tamed? I can dull down my Sterling to almost sound like an EB-0 for gosh sakes! (It' aint easy or pretty, but it can be done!)
I've owned four MM bass lines now (SR, ST, SB, and now B4), and the Bongo has a sonic presence that only the Sabre came close to (being a HH).

The last two times I've gigged the B4 (jam nights), I've resonated the whole building; running the bass control less than flat on the B4, and flat on the amp.

18v preamp is no f*cking joke!

I've said it before - the Bongo is the only bass I've ever owned that draws comments from the most unlikely sources. And not just on the look.

At a blues jam, having some SRVwannabe - normally only interested in his own wankerdom - come to the other side of the stage and say, "Man, what IS that? It sounds GREAT" - that, to me, is proof that these basses aren't like anything else, ever.

I try, amongst you guys, anyway, to hold my enthusiasm down because I'm generally preaching to the choir, but it's hard sometimes to keep it quiet.

You know what I'm afraid of? That once I get my Pearl Blue HS Fiver, I'm still going to have to get another single hummer.
