I know it's an old topic, but I'm still dealing with the divorce of Ernie Ball and those wonderful black leather guitar straps. I haven't found another strap that even compares; and I don't do nylon.
I bought my only EB strap in 1994 for my old bass, now I use it exclusively with the SR4. It's the perfect width -- anything wider would be too corny.
Now with my newly-acquired Axis, I feel nothing less than an EB black leather strap would suffice. However, I don't have the moneybags to afford 6 Axes, 4 Petruccis, and 3 Silos -- each equipped with EB black leather. Please EB, consider making them again!
If marketed as "Historic Reissue," I'm sure the EB black leather strap would be an instant success. ;-)
And, after (multiple) viewings of the thread on Bassbara's hot pants, I got an idea: Ernie Ball signature black leather pants. HOT!!
... would offer a different look from my usual orange jumpsuit:
Why did EB stop making these things? Was it a Velco design patent or something that went with Eddie Van Swollen to Peavey?
