Rodney Crowell found Steuart almost twenty years ago. Rodney has a nack for discovering new guitarists....the one before Steuart was this kid named Vince Gill the one after is an aussie anmed Keith Urban...His latest Will is a great player and they have this other aussie named Jedd Hughes that is fantastic.

If you ever want to hear a "dessert Isle" record with impeccable guitar buy Rodneys Houston Kid. IT is on Itunes an Amazon. Steuart co produced it and plays some fantastic guitar parts. It is one of my 5 alltimers...Lukes too.

He BP is that the albums Name "Houston Kid" ? sometimes in Nova Scotia Canada we dont get all of the realeases and i do enjoy Crowells songwriting and vocal style thanx for info !!!!

I guess I have to be the one to throw the wrench in here - I absolutely love the Eagles and Don Felder is one of my favorites. His melodic leads are great.

I am very disappointed with the latest incarnation of the Eagles, even though I love the band and think they are all great musicians, The Melbourne DVD should have been shelved. I much prefer the Hell Freezes Over DVD - better playing, better singing, better all around.

The new guy is actually quite good, but as vocalists and as a band, they are lacking a lot this time out. Also those tinny guitars Joe Walsh is playing look nice, but sound thin - maybe it's his rig.

Sorry - big Don Felder fan - not the Eagles without him. It's equivalent to the Stones replacing Richards.

Sorry to ressurect this (huge felder fan) But the new guy is a GREAT player. I was so taken with the double neck Silo!!!

I don't play a 12 though...a second neck with nashville tuning or baritone would be the shizzle.

Stuart Smith Gear

I know this is a long shot, really a long shot but I'm gonna try it anyway.

I loved Stuart's tone and playing since I've heard and seen the Farwell tour. Now I tried to figure out his gear some more but I can't.
He used a Fender Strat on that tour as well but I also would love to know which pedals/amps he is using.
He is getting some awesome tones out of those guitars.

And yes it's mostly in the fingers, but you know.. haha.

I hope anybody knows this or can point me to a place where they know it.

And that double-neck is just gorgeous!

Steuart Smith - since the beginning of the Eagles gig I've used a Peavey Classic 50 4x10 amp. The pedals I use are mostly Boss; the compressor stays on lightly at all times; I have two Boss echos, one for very long repeats and one for more conservative action; Super Chorus on very lightly for things like New Kid etc. and tremolo (non stereo). The only non- Boss pedals I use are a wah-wah (Cry Baby) and, for distortion, a Rat (One of These Nights, Sunset Grill only) and for all other overdriven solo stuff a Menatone Red Snapper. The brand volume pedal I have: I'm pretty sure it's an Ernie Ball.

That should do it.
