OK kids since about a third dislike this video I have to give the usual cavaets...this is a sneak peak from an I phone....It is not a produced and rehearsed presentation......it is what it is a camera phone video of me showing a few different directions
Like BP always says the guitar community is not really into change. I put my money down shortly after name on my GC just based on what o saw and what BP said it would do. I am more than pumped to see this video of the Bluetooth with the iPad! This is amazing! Can't wait till they start shipping.
I thought the gc was awesome as is but it's getting even better. I might have to stop hoping for a chambered morse And pull the trigger on one of these. Pretty revolutionary imo
Very impressive demo! However, for me personally it brings more questions:
* Why the BlueTooth module has to be external? Can it be integrated with the rest of the GC inside the guitar?
* Why limit the BlueTooth only to MIDI control? By taking this already excellent idea a step further and transmit both MID and audio the guitar can be made 100% wireless.
Wow, that looks amazing!
That could be incredibly useful in the studio. Would you be able to program all your pickup changes with a MIDI sequencer and have them automatically change at the right point in time?
Nothing short of stunning. It's amazing how much can be done for the studio guitarist or the one who can't afford dozens of different guitars. Not to mention cover bands!
that´s great! i like the idea to change my PUPs with a midi-controller.
just two off the pup-changes i often have: going from bridge HB to single coil while switching the crunch rhythm preset to a clean-chorus preset and the second one is going from bridge HB with crunch rhythm active to neck HB with lead delays sounds.
imagine how easy this is with the GC and the midi-control unit in it.
only one click on the midi-controller and everything changes to what you want to...you´ll never need to take off your hands from the playing position to switch the pickups again, that´s really awesome!
I put my 25th up for sale knowing I wanted a game changer, and will wait patiently- but this video give me serious gas for one...
I bought an ipad and am DELIGHTED to see it's gonna be compatible. THe bluetooth thing will be amazing (although I'm surprised nobody has asked if they can hook it up to the car phone system !!)
Have you called ebay and told them to up the server capacity?? - there's gonna be a tonne of stuff up for sale when people get game changers! - look at your rig and think about how much stuff you won't need once you get one of these, I can see a tonne of my stuff heading for retirement or the chopping block...
Seriously this looks amazing, no more screwing around with patches on processors twiddling effect nobs by 2mm the guitar sound is going to be so much more flexible - that's like having an 8million way switch....and that'd be a big ass switch!
If you'd asked me 18 months ago what I thought about midi and guitar I'd say it was a shrinking market and boss had it sewn up - the fact you can do coil-patch changes through it and bluetooth - out of this world.
Did I miss something ,since I dont see where a third of the board does not like the video. To be honest I like that it was raw and not a polished production since we got to see what a day inside the factory is like in the test department area. The onlything I can say is that there are going to be guys who do not like change or that you do have to be a bit PC savy to figure somethings out, which I would admit I probably fall into that category which to be honest I would like to get out of since I am the worst on a PC, and you guys should only know everything I write is with one finger lol.
On the other hand this is making big waves and creating quite a buzz all over the web no matter what guitar forum it is discussed on, and I have seen it mentioned on every major one out there. Guys are really excited about this ax and what it can do in a big way which is really good news for the company. I know they are really nothing like eachother but the Gibson Firebird X got totally trashed everywhere even by the biggest Gibson die hards. To be honest I never even seen a post from anyone who even owns one, which is making me think not one person even bought one, freaky but true. But the buzz on the GC is excellent and if things fall right this really can take the guitar somewhere it has never been before and be a must have for every player. I see guys talking a lot about it being valuable in the studio but I see it even more useful on stage with just 7 or 8 good pre-sets you could work wonders. It is cool to see Sterling tearing it up and really pushing it and pulling out a ton of tones, I also get the feeling a lot of young guys like Drew had a lot of input on this which is cool as not a lot of CEO,s would be open to what young minds have to offer yet every decade it is usually a young minds that create the next big thing. The more I see from it the more I like it, and I am starting to think in a year I will be leaving the stone age and will be reading a manual inside and out.
