First off it is a team effort totally. The guys in there Bob Dudley Manny Jon and Drew Dargie...and more are all committed to this and are working their asses off..

More infor

It will work on an I phone and an Ipod touch too
I wish I was thinking about playing more as I was pretty sloppy.

Now think of this in the studio with a click....sequencing You can pre program to your click the pickup changes. Thsi will scare some people but imagine not having to worry about anything but playing once you are good with the sequence...You will see pickup switcing and eq used more in phrasing and articulation.

What I didnt show you was the "Gig Mode" You load your switch and the main screen is just that patch with its name and what it is Simple and clean....you swipe the screen to change or use your footpedal or use the switch

This is f'ing amazing! I don't know what I'd do with all of that capability, but I just love the idea of pickup changes with my foot. Love the iPad usage. I'm going to say it again. This is amazing. Fantastic stuff, BP and the rest of the EBMM crew! I can't wait to see the inevitable rig-explanation videos that are going to come from guys like John Petrucci when they start incorporating these things into their rigs. I'm sure it's going to be mindblowing! I realize that I can only just barely imagine all the amazing things that artists are going to be able to do.

I'm clueless when it comes to Midi- but I thought BP's demo and subsequent explanation gives us a hell of an insight into this wonderful evolution of the guitar.

I'm sure that there are major guitar companies out there who must be tearing up their own developments as they don't even finish on the same straight as the game changer.

I know we are all waiting with baited breath to get one of these but as BP says the R & D staff are working their butts off and I for one will have to be patient.

Very impressive demo! However, for me personally it brings more questions:

* Why the BlueTooth module has to be external? Can it be integrated with the rest of the GC inside the guitar?

* Why limit the BlueTooth only to MIDI control? By taking this already excellent idea a step further and transmit both MID and audio the guitar can be made 100% wireless.

Thanks

I don't prophess to speak for EBMM, but as far as BlueTooth goes, there are bandwidth limitations, meaning that whatever audio you sent would be compressed, which is probably undesirable. MIDI control signals use far less bandwidth, so are mush easier to incorporate.

As far as an external module, as opposed to being built into the GC, you need an aerial for the BlueTooth module, so you can't put it inside a shielded control cavity.

Also, I don't think you'd want to trust your audio to BlueTooth, as it can struggle at the higher ends of data transfer.

Wild ... just wild! There's obviously so much that can be done with this approach. Bet we're still seeing the tip of the iceberg.

I love all the guys that slammed this at first ... there's going to be a lot of eating crow out there ...

next....voice control!

I remember one of the first MIDI rack guitar processors, I had one. A Rockman XPR. I thought THAT was a "gamechanger".

I just rewatched the video and after I let it sit for a while, my head exploded.

The fact that so many people can make such use of such versatility shows me what a long way I've got to go. I've been a stubborn classicist that always approached things "keeping things simple" but I'm very open to change. I'm willing to learn, but I'm actually pretty intimidated.

There! I said it! *runs away in shame*

All,

Just to address a few topics discussed in the thread, check out the following:

-The purpose of not putting the midi, or other wireless technologies IN the instrument (yet), were due to the fact that some of those technologies are still in their infancy stages. Sure, midi has been around for a while, but with the pace that wireless technology is evolving, TGCs everywhere could be dubbed obsolete at the same pace as your cell phone. However, by keeping the instrument "alone" and allowing for it to communicate to the outside world via a dongle or what have you, as the communication technology changes, you would only have to purchase a new dongle, and not a new instrument. We have done our best to maintain the integrity of the instrument, while implementing technologies to last far into the future.

-The midi jack shown in the videos has Midi IN capabilities so the pickups can be changed via any midi controller. Midi functionality has been around forever, and a LOT of guitarist shy away from it due to the idea that it is a synth thing. What we have found, is that there just hasn't been many popular controllers that utilize Midi for the average guitarist. What you are hearing on the video is real anolog passive guitar tones. The midi and bluetooth do not touch the signal, they just control what is on/off pickup, amp, effect wise. Midi is a controller language, not a musical one, and can perform all the same tasks as your simple A/B switcher....however, it can do that and much, MUCH more. Switch amps, volume levels, effects, and now, PICKUPS!

-In addition to midi, we have allowed for other forms of communication such as Bluetooth to control The Game Changer. But, you also have the ability to control the outside world FROM The Game Changer, using all of the normal functionality guitarists/bassists are used to on their instrument. Why use a pickup lever switch to control ONLY pickups, when you have use it to switch your pickups AND your amp, effects, iPad!!!!!

This is only the tip of the iceberg, and as BP noted, this is a group effort brought together by BP himself, and the rest of the R&D team. This is an exciting time for all of us!!

Good lord. I hadn't thought of that. Now my mind is beyond boggled!
