I agree that these are great guitars. Just not what I want right now. I loved the feel of the neck. The tone was just a little too smooth, a little too mellow--not as much definition as I usually like. It's one of those horses for courses debates.

If I had all the money in the world or even just a professional sports star's contract, well...I'd definitely have one. I'd probably have an Audi R8 too, but that's another story for another day.

That is one smart lady!
BOth........

How does he like the regular axis? The rosewood is a little smoother and mellower sounding and that may be a problem...The Silo is a great all around machine....... He really needs to play both through his rig and decide.....The other thing is that you can pick up five diferent ones and one will feel just right and you end up not caring about the color.......I hoope that you and mr vail come to the bash next year.....

BP that was a wise and well put answer. I have always told that the RW Axis was darker and warmer sounding. I know these words are so loose and can't really express the sound of the guitar but I know words like smooth, dark, warm all sound good to me. Mellower is a bit iffy. This weekend we are going to a store that is about 1.5-2 hours away from us and they have Lukes, AL's SM's in stock so we'll get to check out some of the line up side by side. Hopefully I can find one or two other stores out in that neck of the woods that have some instock. Saturday is officially EBMM day!

As far as the bash goes...hopefully we can. :D

I absolutely LOVE my Rosewood Axis SS. It's replaced my EVH as my "go to" guitar, which needed a break after 13 years.

I rarely used the Floyd anymore, and the 2 single coil split options on the SS add some great tonal options too. LOVE the Rosewood.

Guess I need to get another (or two) as it sounds like we won't be seeing anymore new Rosewood guitars :(

The rosewood neck is THE BEST neck in the business. I love it. Such a beautiful guitar and the feel is unbelievable.

I said it before and I'll say it again That rosewood silo is just beautiful. I'll give one of my fingers for that thing. I don't even care how it sounds it looks so perfect.

If I remember correctly we wanted to mess around with different tops and neck woods so I asked Dudley what he thought would be cool and this is what we came up with. We all thought it sounded great. I think it's either a love/hate on it's looks. It's not a big seller as we have about 30 on order currently.

Rosewood Axis

I got a brand new old stock 2008 RW Axis w/ Floyd Rose on Monday. Turns out the truss adjustment wheel is broken and I have to send it back to EBMM for warranty repair. Even though I only go to play it for a few minutes, I was stunned at how amazing it sounded. The sustain was simply ridiculous. I used to think that my 2009 Axis w/ Floyd Rose was the best guitar I have ever onwed (a very long list), until I played the RW Axis. Simply put... the best neck I have ever played. I am hoping that EBMM can do a quick turnaround on the fix. This guitar is amazing. I can't bleve they aren't more popular.

Consider me hooked. I got a hardtail last month and now I'm on the prowl for one with a (non-Floyd) trem.
I think if the Rosewood neck option had been made available without the rosewood top they would be far more popular. I think the distinctive look does put a few people off.
I bet it does but I find it utterly charming. Kinda funny since most of my other guitars have flame or quilt maple tops.

On order? I thought you stopped taking orders for them some time ago.
