I don't mean to be crass, but is it possible that you guys are being a little sensitive to the vocal minority? I know we all have different tastes, and thats where the "not my cup of tea" comes in. If I made something that someone said "wow thats awful", I would probably get a little upset, and I understand that. Being an internet (aka mostly anonymous) forum, gives the spineless some back bone. But that should be understood and known at this point I would think. A redirection into more positive criticism or lack of enjoyment vice negativity may be in order, sure.

You do what you want to. Its your company, you are clearly doing well, and have been for a long time. I remember commenting on the Armada pretty harshly, and you got upset at me in particular. I chose my words poorly, but they weren't really intended to bash the company, more of a "gut reaction" to something that was (in my eyes) unusual to see from you guys. My thoughts on the guitar really havent changed, but I did appreciate the forging the path unknown route you took to get that one out. Since then, after your discussion to me, I have reconsidered what was appropriate, and that I was dealing with an artist as well as a business owner, not just reacting to a picture posted on a forum. Im sure a lot of the negativity isn't intentional, more of a reaction to a picture if you will. Surely you don't want mindless cultists brown nosing you all day?

"Mindless Cultists brown nosing you all day" Really? Fanboi was the old name but you took it off the charts. Im not upset...so get that straight first off...just telling you the truth. Really you are painting people who have shown a little respect maybe as brown nosing idiots.

I started by giving flashes of stuff....pretty cool...some difficult people but really something that was truly appreciated. It wasn't shown for design reinforcement it was a little opportunity to thank the diehards buy giving them a ring side seat.

Then we evolved to doing the entire 25th online....by then the internet entitlement and "I can say anything I want, this is America" In other words it turned into something that was now not only expected but sometimes demanded...it started dripping with entitlement. I had taken it too far.

So Im still showing or telling more than any guitar company in the world and have just chosen to do it in a way that works for us. Keep in mind of course we like it if you like it but we aren't ever thinking about you in the process with a sig guitar. For a non sig guitar we have a very wide variety of real life beta testers.

May be its not the good thread to ask but I remember when the masjesty came out someone asked you, BP, if you could show us some pic of the prototype and you said may be later, lets pass the hate first. Almost 2 years passed by and I'm wondering if you ever plan to show us a few pictures of the protypes in their different stages ? I'm really interessed in seeing the evolution of it.

Thanks Bob123. I usually don't appreciate being called names and disrespected, but I won't be baited into your sh!t-stirring nonsense. I thought you were a solid guy but apparently I was mistaken. Have a great day, anyway.

Regards,
Mindless Brown Nosing Cultist Jeff

Can we please disagree without it getting to name calling?

Can I get an "amen" from a mod to clean up this thread?!

Actually Kevin I would like it just how it is. Why? Because I think Bob123 was trying to make a point and in his haste slammed everyone who gets along. I truly dont believe that was his intention but it actually is at the core of the issue. The written word can be taken so many ways. I think I understood what Bob said and even made sure he knew that I wasn't angry I was just showing how a sentence can affect people and in my mind maybe an extreme example to make a point. I hope that we can communicate.

The internet gives most a sense of power. I laugh all the time when on our Facebook page we feature an Ernie Ball product and there is always an "Ernie Ball sucks?" If you don't like a company or product why do you invest time in visiting their Facebook page?

So it comes back to why people visit here. It is to share a common like of what we do. Hopefully to learn something and occasionally pick the brain of an old geezer designer/owner.

I will point out one thing...participation is not mandatory from the team at Ernie Ball/Music Man. Do you notice that you don't see many anymore? We could fix that pretty easily. I still check everyday a few times. I stay away from customer service which in spite of me explaining over and over that we have a department of experts it still happens all the time. I stay away from most that I know are going to go bad.

I have been around quite a while and have seen some of the hateful things spewed when a "teaser" is presented. I get why Pops and company have held back a bit. I am just excited to see the new products coming out since quite a few things are put to pasture.

More exciting times are coming up. Fasten the seat belt. Gonna be fun!

Another thread that makes me proud to be a tiny part of this family! :D

btw, as far as 'cultist' go, that is a different california instrument maker's forum members... the Kool aid is plentiful over there.
It's sad and insulting, and I quit hanging out there some time ago....

If you love brand X instruments, that's great....but don't bash brands Y & Z & .....that only serves to embarrass yourself.

Interesing to see where this thread went! Thanks BP and all the others for commenting here - I want you to be sure that this thread was started with the best of intentions and not to stirr up the old fuzz about freedom of speech and the like.

Of course, everyone's entitled to their own opinion and should be encouraged to express that. I certainly didn't mean to try and turn the forum into a bunch of "brown nosing" spitlickers that only shall say the most wonderful things about the company or go someplace else - but I wanted to address the way in which we communicate on here - and that should in my opinion be in a respectful and civilized manner (actually, that's what I had in mind when I mentioned "behaving" - probably not the best of expressions as it might lead to confusion...). The lack thereof led to a decrease in participation of both company representatives and quite a few members that I don't see posting as regularly anymore. So please, try and get my drift even it was probably poorly voiced in places (there's a language barrier involved, too!).

Anyways, I really think it shall be possible to speak your mind without bashing others, without being disrespectful, without stepping over the lines.

your right Coffeemug and I appreciate it. I think the biggest thing is where is Dudley? Dargie? Drew? Luke? Brian?
I fight back a little and it hurt us on other forums...so those other guys just left...I dont want to make them participate.
I still like this place and like Ive said many a time my peers in the guitar building community have told me many times that I am crazy to be so open here.

the need to attack and Bob123 it is way more than you may realize hurts the content here as the key people that can really add an insiders perspective dont have time for the arrows.

I love this company, call me what you will, I don't expect to like every guitar that they develop and launch but am I interested in seeing them, of course. Many things grow on you with time, like that one track on an album you didn't like the first few listens but turns out to be your favourite song in time, but hey, sometimes you just never like that song and that's fine, skip it, take it off the playlist, whatever.

I for one still come and read the forum in the hope of sneak peaks, of anything BP has to say, NGDs and to see what is in the for sale thread, I do miss the fact that we don't have as much input from the guys BP mentioned who provide interesting morsels of information that make you feel privileged to be getting even a tiny little insight, but that won't stop me from coming back tomorrow!

...and thus the main takeaway from this thread should be to try to work towards creating (re-creating?) an atmosphere where the aforementioned feel inclined to participate and look forward to mingling with the community.

I still like this place and like Ive said many a time my peers in the guitar building community have told me many times that I am crazy to be so open here.

I see it similar to how certain musicians - like Mike Portnoy, for example - have kind of broken the mould and approached interactions with their fans in a manner which makes them feel more involved and connected to the individual. I can say with certainty, BP, that despite its risks, there is a sense of caring and desire to be socially engaged with your fanbase/clients - and that creates an atmosphere which further separates you from other manufacturers.

+1 to the point above.

Sterling, you're not just some guy that owns EBMM - I (foolishly?) consider you, and much of the rest of the staff there, my "Internet friends". :)

Is it foolish of me to think that? I don't really think so - as we do engage in collective conversation that I think/hope advances understanding on both ends.

Yes, "engagement" is one of the things setting EBMM apart in the marketplace - it's not the only thing, but it's an important piece that I'm sure we all hope you continue to nurture.
