I've been having a love/somewhat love relationship with this guitar since I received it earlier this week. Out of the box it had a few setup issues, and the pickups didn't blow me away. The ergonomics of the guitar were amazing. . . and on paper it had my bucket list of features for a rock guitar.
I've been a JP user since they EBMM delivered the first hand signed batch over a decade ago. From there I've grown to the BFR line and absolutely adored my JPX, save for the five way blade switch and finished neck.
So, I know these guitars, and I love them just like I love the company that makes them. I've never seen such a polarizing response to a guitar like I have the Majesty. In the looks dept there is no real gray area, either you love it or you hate it. I was one of the 'wasn't crazy about the pics' group, but of course when you have it in hand, you KNOW there is something special.
When I plugged it in, I had some 'tweaking issues'. My main guitars are a high end boutique strat, a high end LP, and my main bigger was an Axis. I use a hardwired blackface combo and a smallbox Marshall. So, it took some tweaking. . . a good few days to get my tones in order.
Today, I STILL wasn't convinced this guitar was for me. . . I found myself at the new Time's Square GC, which opened yesterday, and I wanted to see what they had in stock. The layout is pretty cool for a 'basement store' - the Platinum lounge is sick, and they have quite a few JP's on tap, to try out.

I immediately 'ran' to the BFR Koa JP, I needed my BFR fix - I've always wanted one, and here was my chance to compare it to the Maj head on! I plugged into and Engl combo and started to put it through the paces. . . Much love there, won't deny it. Then I plugged in one of their Majesty's and went to town. . . and you know what? It didn't suck. . .
The Illuminator's didn't make me cringe, the thinner neck was quite comfy, the fret markers didn't blind me with their sheen. . . Just for measure, I plugged back up the koa, and although it felt very much like a guitar I loved to play, I really started to feel at home with the Majesty. . . Let's see what tomorrow brings.

I was by Guitar Center today and stopped in to see if they had any majestys in stock just to see one in person but they had no JPs. I did get a cool Dunlop Tortex t-shirt on sale for 8.00 though but was disappointed to not see a majesty.
