This might be a dumb question; but I really would like some insight into this. When the original Steve Morse model was developed, why was the Morse Blue Burst chosen as the default finish?

I love the finish. It has kind of a turquoise look to it. I have been going over it in my mind why it was developed. So, while I may be way of base here, at least it might make for an interesting theory and read.

My thoughts are that I know Steve seems to like Native American culture. I don't know if it's part of his heritage or if he just likes it. I have noticed him wearing shirts that have Native American images and such. Plus, often he'll wear something around his neck that looks like something a Native American would wear. He also seems to often wear shirts that are turquoise in color.

One of the chief gems you equate with Native American culture is turquoise. Could it be his favorite color? Maybe Big Poppa asked him what finish he wanted for his guitar and he said turquoise. Big Poppa might have said something to the effect of "that might be a little over-the-top. Let's do a subtle burst into a type of turquoise fade."

That's my theory of how the Morse Blue Burst came to be. Like I said, I'm probably way off here; but it was a cool theory. Besides, turquoise is my favorite color. I'm sure that helped to fuel my theory....

Cheers,

Im sure there is a video where BP and Steve are looking at the new Y2D model and His original No1 guitar and I think it was all blue and there is a yellow base coat that has started to wear down so the lighter color is a yellow

Im not 100% on that so please dont quote me on it

the choice could very well have been along the lines of your theory

He just wanted a blue burst...I wish I could tell you we visited a cherokee shaman and smoked the peace pipe and learned some buffalo jerky recipes, but it was more boring than that.....

ROTFL, well okay then.....

Thanks BP; but I still like my theory. It's more romantic than the truth. I appreciate knowing the real deal though.

Well, Blueburst is really a nice finish.
I like to see the wood and blueburst is a lot more original than a natural or classic sunburst finish.
Besides Blueburst fits perfectly with a blue jean so it's perfect for me !
