A question in another thread prompted me to post this info about a great online music education site I know about - The Music Dojo. They have great classes on theory/improvisation for bass, reading music for bass & various technique classes - tapping, slapping, fundamental left & right hand technique, etc... Adam's classes on walking lines are great too - really get into understanding chords/harmony & how great walking lines are derived from them in both blues & jazz.
The site was started by pro solo bassist Adam Nitti, and several other pro bassists deliver courses there too. Dave LaRue does a tapping course there - I think his is the level 2 tapping course. Adam Nitti does a level 1 course that's great. The slap courses are done by a guy some of you may have heard of named Anthony Wellington. Anthony is Victor Wooten's bass technician & plays 2nd bass in the Victor Wooten Band, being a bad-ass bassist himself. (That's right, 2 basses!)
I've really gotten alot out of the various courses I've taken there. I really dig the format - a combo of text-based "lecture" and QuickTime audio/video clips. Each class is $50 bucks there, and consists of 20 lessons - a lesson for every day of a month, minus weekends. During the month that the course runs, the instructor responds to questions about the material, etc... But even after the course ends, you still have permanent access to all the class materials, to review as often as you want.
There's a free 1 week intro course that allows you to check it out & see if the content & format work for you. I highly recommend the dojo - best music education site I've seen.
Have fun,
Robert
