Well here is the family (minus my Ashbory and my daughters Daisy Rock). Sorry the one on the left isn't EB related (but was my very first bass - yes, that is a Khaler)

Hey Oddjob,

Just curious why you would have 3 Bongo 4's that look (I can't tell if one is fretless, has piezo, etc. in the pic) so similar. They all seem to be rosewood single H's.

Whatever turns your crank though. :)

I have 3 SR's but one is a 5er and one of the 4's has maple and the other rosewood. They are all different sounding even though they are all single H's.

Hopefully, your answer isn't a real good one as my wife will kill me if I bring home more EMBB basses!:D

they are all just plain H's. I loved the tone of the HH (a bit rounder) but it doesn't sit in the mix of my 3 piece as well as the single H. After I won Kermit, I got the Red HH (because of Kermit's value - so I wouldn't have to play him all the time... and Red was the ONLY color I could find at the time without having to order). Then got the Dargie because, well it was a Dargie and I wanted another H to bang around on. Honestly, I was going order a DG 4HS, but Pete took good care of me and, well, it is Blue Dawn (which I love... not more than DG, but I can always get a DG later). If Pete didn't have this, it would have been another config (and who knows maybe down the line I'll trade the Dargie or Blue Dawn H for a Dargie or Blue Dawn HH or HS)

The H is the sound of my band. With the GK rig it cuts through and is defined (I could never quite dial in the HH the way I can the H). It has attitude and some bark. We play out enough that I like having multiple of the same config (3 is stretching it but I won't complain :D)

Fun part about all of this was I got to say "Honey, I need a new bass. Yeah the Blue Dawn is nice but it is a LTD too and I need a "plain" one so they don't get too banged up."

I'll be getting my pillows and heading to the couch now.
