None of the encoder types really matter, they are all good enough.

I have a whole bunch of music DVDs/BluRays where the mastering of the audio or other quality measures are screwed up on the Blu Ray.

It often isn't the same processing that has been done for the CD on one hand and the video disks on the other hand.

I'm asking whether somebody specifically knows whether the audio tracks are identical (not counting encoder type).

Is it just me or do the high frequencies sound very emphasised on this DVD/BluRay, Simon's cymbals in particular?

Just got the CD, waiting for the Blu Ray - what an awesome performance, and Luke's playing is just majestic!

Ohhhh. Can you please post an update later whether the sound on the BluRay is the same as on the CD?
Ok, the Blu Ray has arrived - the two did NOT sound the same on the system I played them on tonight, compared to the CD the 2-channel stereo sound on the Blu Ray has a loudness-like character, whereas the CD sounds more transparent and detailed. The Blu Ray sounds really good, but when A/B'ing I clearly preferred the CD. Happy to have both! :)

One caveat though - to facilitate quick switching I played the CD on my Denon CD player, and the Blu Ray on my Samsung Blu Ray. I have A/B'ed the two players before, and the Denon CD player has the upper hand. However, that difference was much smaller than what I heard tonight. I have a second Samsung Blu Ray downstairs, could hook the two Samsungs up to take the player out of the equation...

As has been said earlier in the thread, it's great to see and hear Luke and the guys ripping it - this is an absolutely awesome concert!

Thanks so much. I really appreciate it. There are so many convert videos coming out where the audio is just toast, it's clipped or processed to hell or has audience noise to kingdom come in a new mix, I just don't buy anymore.

My pleasure! I know what you mean, seems to happen much too often - however this Blu Ray is quite ok.
