I just bought this bass( SR5 H/S) and it seems like the E string doesn't resonate like the rest of my strings. When I play all my other strings, things in my room shake. Then When I play my E, they don't. Is something wrong with the pickups? I tried the different settings on my amp and different pickup variations but it is still there. What to do?

Easy and most obvious thing to check: the string itself.

Is it old, new, how long was it in the store?

Does it have downward angle on the peg? How many wraps?

Etc.

I don't like to get involved in these Internet Diagnosis Cases, but those are the first things I'd check.

String is wrapped around once at a downward angle towards the peg. String seems brand new, I bought the bass used. Doesnt look like anything is wrong with the string.

I go with 2 or 3, pushed down against the headstock as far as possible. Hold it down as you wind the string until it has enough tension to stay there. You probably need about another 3" of string length on that one...

The string it self can be bad. That happens every once i awhile. You won´t be able to see if that is the case. Try with a completely new string.

It also may be that string has lost some of its zing in comparison to the others. I find my E-string generally goes dead faster than the others and that's probably due to the fact that I play that one the most.

The string itself is a good start though. I've had defective strings before (but never an Ernie Ball).

Not enough wraps IMHO. And yeah that will do just that when it doesn't have enough wraps.

Since that comes up every now and then... makes me wonder why there are not more string trees on the headstock... or a single bracket for all strings, like on those basses who fell from grace...

This is a world class example of a bad post. If someone googles stingray 5 they see a problem with the bass. You bought a used bass Change the strings and then contact customer service if the problem persisits.....Everybody stop with the armchair doctoring..."the string looks new" if the string sounds bad chances are that it is dead.

First off this is not a customer service forum. There are many reasons for it. If I let it be that that is all it would be.
Secondly most issues are minor and the well meaning forumites do what a doctor never does..they diagnose and usually make it worse.,

secondly customer service for a used bass with old strings is kind of like calling 911 for a stubbed toe.

Please change the strings and if that doesnt work fire away we are here to help at the factory...
