I joined another bass forum a few days ago. I wont say the name of this other forum, but it rhymed with walk ace. Anyway, I hope I dont offend our doublers who post both here and there, but I think that "other" forum is the largest load of crap in the world. It felt like I was surrounded by folks who had the my bass is better than your bass mentality. They seemed to think if your bass costs under two grand that it sucks. I dont know how you others feel but what I like about this forum is we dont argue, we have good discusions, and we dont compete with our basses ( maybe cause we know that Jack beats us all ). My favorite thing is how time after time one forum member has come to the rescue of another forum member in need. Shouldnt that be our mission? I guess what I'm trying to get across is that like our MusicMan basses this forum rocks. There is so much knowledge here, and I learn most every day. Thanks to all for your input and most of all your great attitudes. I look forward to many more interesting threads.

I don't care much for that forum that rhymes with "walk ace" either. There are many cool members, but there are also too many snooty narrow minded know it alls for me.

Yeah, well, you're stupid, and your bass sucks. :p

LOL...bro, could not agree with you more. As one of the new folks on the other side said a short time ago, he feels like he's walked into a family here. I believe it...I want to shed a tear every time we see a post that says "hey guys, I just got/ordered my new Axis/JP/Stingray/Bongo", etc. because that decision menas that there's one less F*nder or G*bson out there on the streets. :)

Everyone on both sides of the board are great people, very friendly, supportive, and ready to help out at a login's notice. I'm personally glad to be a part of it all, and proud to "be in charge of" some of ya (though another good thing is that everyone is self policing, which makes we moderators happy, and makes life easier for us!) :)

Hats off to everyone on (both sides of) this forum, my buds...my family. :)

Also another forum i went to was poorly organized. Currently there are 6 pages of sticky posts alone. Then there are doubles of the sticky post. Also, the post reply doenst always work. itll show you replied, but the board wont acknowldge it. good people there, but ****ty forum, and there are no mods. at all. thats why i like this forum.

I've been going to the other place for about 5 years now. When you have over 20000 members, it's kinda hard to keep the kiddies out.

That said, the most annoying thing I've seen at Talkbass recently is the gang who follow Nick around and derail all of his threads. Other than that, there are plenty of knowledgable people at Talkbass. if you got the impression that people over there really think that if your bass doesn't cost $2K then it sucks, then you obviously haven't been paying attention. I've never really seen that attitude out of anyone over the age of 15.

If you don't like Talkbass, don't go to it.

TalkBass has its ups and downs; I personally don't find much there that interests me, usually, but I've been there a while and occasionally post.

I'm a member and admin of another bass board or two as well.

I happen to think this one is pretty good overall. The huge advantage we have over nearly every other board is that we are concentrating on one brand, which keeps the blah blah blah down to decent levels. And there really aren't that many EBMM basses, when you think about it - or compare it to the Fender catalog.

Ah, one other thing - we have fairly regular access to the guys at the company. Questions get answered, problems get resolved - hard to beat that, ain't it? You won't see that over on the Fender Forum, poor bastards.

And there is still one other thing - we all agree about which basses we like to play, to a large extent. Keeps the stone-throwing down, eh?

Thanks, guys. I like it here.

I've spent some time at "that other" forum. I agree with most of what's been said here. But I do know that by spending time there I get some perspectives other than those of EBMM users. Not that being an EBMM user is a bad thing, it's just that there's a lot of players out there that have knowledge that they are willing to share that you won't find here because they don't play EBMM. Any tips you can get that will help you to play better are worth seeking out. I even spend some time in another forum that Jack moderates as well as I know a few other members here do.

Precisely why I DON'T waste my time there. Too many know it all punks. Who likes that?

I must admit to railing Nick on this forum. He is a dipstick.

BUT, if those guys at dork race just ignored him.......

Anyways, like it here, hope I always will. Let's keep it sane, topical, polite & worth visiting!

We all were at 15.

A 15 year old with ADD (as diagnosed by a UK specialist) severe enough to be put on disability living allowance appears more so on an internet forum.

BUT, if those guys at dork race just ignored him.......

They deliberately bait him. It's cruel and unneccessary.

I was one major dickhead at 15 (only slightly less of one at 34!).

You're right - it IS uneccessary - It would seem Nick is young & foolish & does get baited, although looking at his more recent posts he also seems keen to learn & be a better bassist.
