I must admit to railing Nick on this forum. He is a dipstick.

BUT, if those guys at dork race just ignored him.......

Anyways, like it here, hope I always will. Let's keep it sane, topical, polite & worth visiting!

You mean polite like referring to a 20000 member forum as dork race and a 15 year old as a dipstick behind his back?

Seriously, why must there be a 'better' forum? I mean--Talkbass has a lot to offer that the humble EB forum can't. Access to pros like Michael Manring, Steve Lawson, Mike Dimin, and Mike Watt, for starters. For every guy with five 7 string coffee tables, there's 10 with nithing more than a PBass. People simultaneously decry the snobbery level and the kiddies. So, they are nothing more than 13 year olds who talk down to you if you don't own a $5K custom. Okay....

There is a much higher signal to noise ration here, but that's the differece between 400 new posts a day and 6, ya know? If you avoid Off Topic like it was trying to steal your liver, you can find a lot of useful information.

Besides--I like to look at pretty basses. Everything from '51 PBasses to 11 string landing strips. They all make me happy. :D

If certain hypocritical people who think they are cool would stop baiting others, it would be an even nicer place to visit throughout the day.

I agree with Jack and Bassmonkee - TB has it's ups and downs - who doesn't?? But you're going to have that when you have the number of members as they do. I've had some important questions answered very well there - I've been screamed at by a few folks over there, but I tend to bring that out of people anyways ;)

There are just as many a$$hole$ playing EBMM basses as Warwicks, etc. We just have less riff-raff here... Less people, means lower a$$hole ratio :)

Plus, we have a new member that's a moderator over on TB!

We've probably got about the same ratio, but it's harder to get into an argument about who's got the nicer bass when we've got the same bass to begin with :)

:D

Now, now. I'm just a regular guy over here...

I prefer to not get into "one forum vs. another" discussions, mostly because I think there can be good and bad at any of them.

And to ebmuscmanlvr83: don't give up on TB, the core members (the long timers like myself) don't play the "my bass is better" game at all. Heck, I'm pretty much known over there for having a comparatively conservative selection of axes, but I would put them up against the most expensive axes out there. And if I've read correctly, you have recently taken possession of a Sterling, so you have won the discussion anway (is there possibly a "better" bass?). At your level, they're only different!

...I think TalkBass is fine, there's a lot of good info and views expressed there, and anything BASS is allright with me....I made the mistake a couple times of ummm..."engaging" others whose opinion was less magnificent than mine ( :D )-
I've since learned that it's pretty much a waste of time- If there's not going to be intelligent give-and -take, especially posting on the 'net, the hell widdit-
Amazing how we humans can get gnarly in cyberspace, and prolly would be civil and good buds as bassists in real life.....well, maybe not!

Anyway, this forum is cool-among other things it hooks you up with the factory if you need it, and answers ??'s specifically aimed at MM's too, as well as the bass world in general. As a former (Sterling) and future (Bongo SHC) EB owner/operator, I'm glad to see that it's grown like it has.

True. But with some folks, they're going to be a real a$$ regardless...

I know you were kidding but dork race was my attempt to follow the trend (I should try to follow the pack less....)

And I should have said Nick CAN be a dipstick rather than he IS one per se, heck I don't even know the boy.

On the Forum front, I found useful/useless/interestering/uninteresting things on both, plus good & bad comments/critique.

Horses for courses I guess, like as been said already, good & bad on both.

I'm staying here though......

I wanted to close this thread out by thanking all for their input. My conclusion is this. There really are jerks everywhere. What I need to do is realize that and look at other sites as equal to this one. I am giving TalkBass the benefit of the doubt, and I will try and open my mind to learn from that site. I would really hate letting a few bad apples spoil what I may take away from there.
