I love the Police as well. (but I've never liked "Roxanne".. )

I would have paid $200 see them back when Sting could hit the high notes, and I was young and single. But I sure wouldn't want to go alone, and my wife and I get out without the kids so rarely.. but even so I can't justify $400 to take my wife to a concert. Heck, I could plunk down a deposit on a F-1 Petrucci BFR with that money!
 :D

I'm sure the all shows will sell out anyway. What child of the 80's hasn't longed for this reunion? *sigh* I would love to have attended the Synchronicity tour!

"Roxanne" is good for a drinking game though...

Two teams: One is "Roxanne" the other is "Put on the red light". Play song. Each time "Roxanne" is said, the Roxanne team drinks. Each time "put on the red light" is said, the red light team drinks. Everyone's toasty in 3 minutes!

I saw the Police twice in the 80s, and they were a lot better on the records than live.

I do have all their albums (both as a group and as soloists--Andy's stuff is pretty cool). But no way will I pay that kind of money to see them live, no one I know is going either, and I know some wealthy folks in my biz.

On the other hand my wife and I went to see Bruce Hornsby solo piano for less than $120 at Bass Performance Hall in Ft. Worth. That was worth every penny and then some. He's 100x the musician Sting is, and I like Sting a lot.

It was magical!!!

have you seen the ticket sales? I think they're going to do ok! Some venue's sold out in 60 seconds from what i heard. Personally I am a much bigger fan of Sting's solo stuff....."I hung my Head" is one of my favorite songs!! The most I've paid for a concery was $150 a ticket(x2) that was for the Bridge School Benifit and had an all acoustic line up of:

Paul McArtney
Neil Young
Tony Bennet
Sonic Youth
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Los Lonely Boys
Eddie Vedder
and others!!

Great cause....great concert!! Paul closed the show at 1:30 am with "Hey Jude" while rain was beggining to drizzle down.....and the entire line up came out and joined in for one big Hey Jude jam!!! Good Stuff!!!

Paid 250 a pop before for tickets... but I had front row seats, party before and after the show (including booze) and some face time with the band, a shirt, program and goody bag (plus special parking) - 250 just a seat... never

Another rip-off I just discovered today is that some "club" bought all the good tickets in Dallas and to get them you have to pay a $100 membership fee for access, on TOP of the exhorbitant admission costs and convenience fees.

Can anyone say EXTORTION?

What a crock.

When I was in College, one of my profs hooked me up with free Al Green tickets($100 ticket) for my gal and I. The band tore it up and we got to hang with Al's band at the backstage after party. Prince showed up and all was right with the world. HELL YEAH!

I can, I can! I mean, I could... 30 some-odd years ago! :)

My best-buddy in my teens through early adulthood was my drummer and we LOVED the Police. He was heavily influenced by Copeland's style.

We didn't officially play any Police tunes in the Band, but when it was just him and I we would belt out a bunch - Roxanne, So Lonely, Message in a Bottle, Walking on the Moon, etc - lots of their early stuff.

Wow - that was a long time ago. Of all the reunion tours going 'round, I think this may be the first that makes me feel so old. :p
