I'm a relative newcomer to this forum and I've been lurking for a while but since I just received my first Bongo the other day - a new-old stock Buttercream Bongo 5 HS - I thought I'd post a picture of it that shows the real colour of buttercream.

Before I received the guitar I searched the web for photos of Buttercream EBMM basses but I found most of them didn't really show the colour that accurately.

To help with the colour reference I photographed the guitar on top of a white towel and put a dish of butter next to the guitar. :D It was still really hard to show the details in that dark brown tort pickguard but the colour of the paint is pretty accurate.

I hope this is useful to those who are looking. :)

Thanks guys. It really is a beautiful bass and I'm really stoked about getting it after searching for quite a while and missing out on a couple of Bongos before this one.

I mainly wanted to show, for the benefit of people who haven't seen it but are interested to know what it looks like, that Buttercream is really a light shade of yellow. I told my wife it was described as being an aged/off-white and she said "nope, it's yellow...pastel yellow" and I'd have to agree.

Anyway...I'm really looking forward to getting this bass out on a gig. One thing I'm really happy about is that it sounds fantastic acoustically - great resonance and projection - so I think it will be awesome through my amp (GK 400RB-IV / Neo 112).

Thats probably one of the best representations of that color I've ever seen. I love the butter dish next to it in the pic, thats pretty clever. Haha. I'm sure that thing plays as good as it looks. Thanks for posting the pic and sharing with us. Welcome to the forum by the way, good to have ya aboard.
