Heya, welcome back, Beth.

For those who were unaware, Beth spent a week in a dirt-poor town in central Africa, helping the townspeople with agricultural and sanitation issues.

Or wait, maybe she was in the Caribbean, I forget.

Wherever you were, we missed you!

Jack

PS: Thanks. You know what I'm talking about.

We'll be able to tell by which specific dysentery she has contracted.

Awwww, shucks *kicks dirt*

Thank you so much for the welcome back! I spent a lovely sun-drenched week at the all-inclusive Sandals in St. Lucia. My normally pale skin looks like the skin of a hot dog at Circle K that's been on the heating rollers too long. I saw 1 music store when I was there -- ironically it was called "Music Man", ahahahahaha!!!

Cheers everyone!

Welcome back Beth!

Which one did you stay at? Susan and I stayed at Halcyon the first week in December and we've stayed at Regency twice. We did visit the Grand while we were there in December. I think I like Halcyon the best though.

Also, we'll be staying at Whitehouse in Jamaica the last week of April. I likey Sandals very much!

Welcome back Beth! I hope you had a great time, I'm a big fan of those little islands myself. But every time I go I come back whiter than before I left!
Chuck is it true that when you go on vacation you only stay on the left side of the island? And a big welcome back to Beth, we all value your help

hey and welcome back!

chuck i know what your saying about going away and coming back whiter. My skin is so white is seems to offend some people so when i go away, i tend to hide from the sun even more than usual, for fear of sunburn, hence the whiter skin :p

Hey Larry,

We were at the Grande -- we went to the Regency for dinner (at Kimonos... it was good, but doesn't hold a candle to our Kobe Steakhouse here!) for our last night there. Our bus stopped at the Halcyon. It looked really peaceful compared to the Grande, and in fact, when I was booking it, it was a toss-up between the Grande and the Halcyon. The Grande seemed to have more of a party party party vibe, which got kind of old after about 4 solid days of it. We were participating in everything (we got one of those pairs of leather sandals necklaces) -- the Newlywed Game thing, karaoke, poolaerobics, tubing, you name it! After about 4 days all we wanted to do was order room service and watch bad reality tv. I started dreaming about work the last couple nights of vacation - BASTA! Funny how when I'm working I dream about vacation and when I'm on vacation I dream about work. Just can't escape this place completely -- its in my blood!

One thing I thought would be fun was the next time we decide to go, is to invite a bunch of other of our couple friends to go at the same time, especially to the Grande. I'd like to check out the Turks and Caicos version of Beaches, even though it does allow kids. I heard that the kids stay in a completely different part of the resort though, so as to muffle their shrieks... ;) :p

Oh wait, did you ever try the drink "Crazy Nutt"? We bought the ingredients to make the drink and brought them home -- Bounty Rum and Nutts N Rum. We made a couple of them the night before last and noticed how much more drunk we got off one drink. Either its the Caribbean sun or they might water down their booze, did you have the same experience?

Cheers!

I've been to Beaches Turks but it was quite a while back. It has been remodeled and added on to since we were there. I've never been a big fan of their Kimono's restaurants. But they did have this one chef in Turks that was absolutely hilarious. He really put on a show and kept you entertained.

We didn't spend much time at the Grande and the "Crazy Nutt" must have been a drink that was indiginous to that resort. The only meal we ate there was lunch and that was at the beach grille.

We went to Regency one night just to eat a La Toc because it has always been one of my favorite Sandal's restaurants. All I can say is it wasn't nearly as good in December as I remember it being the other two times we were there. Both Mario's and The Pier at Halcyon put it to shame. In fact, the food at Halcyon was excellent. One thing that the Grande and Regency had that Halcyon didn't was a little better liquor selection.

I've got boatloads of those sandals from over the years we've been going there. Susan even has a pair of gold sandals. I used to participate in the guest and staff talent show and would get a pair just for doing that.

Glad you had a good time. I always figured that they water the drinks down a little but that's OK with me. Otherwise I would be in bed by 5 or 6 every day. The martinis don't seem watered down though and I got pretty drunk on Jack one day trying to stay warm when we had a chilly, hard rain. They do run a pretty good operation down there though.
