All I can say is.....Totally blown away! That was the best show I have seen as far as an instrumental show.

The story of the night:

My brother-in-law and myself went to La Casa OC's. Got to see my bro (which is always a good thing!) and what was even better....I got to hear some more of OC's tunes that he has been writing. As a side note to all......you will be blown away! OC is really pulling out the stops and is in the zone!
Next, we went to the college town where Steve and the Dregs are playing and stopped for a few drinks prior to the show. Nice times had by all. My brother-in-law bought the rounds so I wasn't complaining! hehehehehe......until he almost lost his change from the bartender. Mistake on the barkeep's part, but no harm done. Life is good.
Got in line with tickets in hand. We were sitting around shooting the breeze until we were finally allowed into the theater. Not a very big place...holds about 300 I guess. Old movie theater so our view was very nice. We were to the left of the stage on the side Steve would be standing.......great seats.
Steve Morse came out with the band and just threw down! He had his blue Morse EBMM with a guitar synth attached. He covered EVERY genre of music known. I told OC that he covered them all but rap. OC said, "He did make a joke about rap so that counts!" heheheheehehe.......
Then the Dregs came out and it was absolutely amazing. The violinist was awesome as well as Dave LaRue. He was playing a Blue Dawn Bongo! He was just as amazing as Steve and the band was just stellar!
My brother-in-law had no idea who Steve was. When Steve did Kashmir, my brother went nuts. Especially since Steve did the vocal lines on guitar! Blew me away. My brother-in-law said it was better than the original Zep! He is a HUGE Zep fan!
The two drummer solo was cool. Dudes threw down and the crowd loved it.
My biggest hightlight, besides Morse playing of course, was the new Morse guitar. He broke it out and that is one gorgeous piece of art work! EBMM and Morse have come up with a best seller yet again! I am VERY interested in the final masterpiece.

First off, kbaim and NorM, you guys were 100% right! I was blown away by the show and by the Master! Where have I been all these years?!?!?!? Next time I am out in Cali, kbaim....beers on me! NorM, if you happen to be there, same for ya bro!

OC, thanks for doing the footwork and getting the tickets. It was great to see you and hear the awesome tunes you are cooking up for our enjoyment. As always, glad to see you and I can see me coming up to NY more often now with my new promotion at work. Next time, I will have the Rad Red and we will record something together and kick back a few brews!

To anyone who has never seen Steve Morse. DO IT! You will not regret it one bit.....I am still in awe of THE MAN!

You're a lucky lucky man!

If I wanted to see Steve play live, I'd have to endure a Deep Purple concert as the SMB & Dregs tour is unlikely to make it to the UK ;)

Spot on Sir! You beat me to it...Morse was smokin', noted the Silver Jubilee on top of the rack...NICE stuff! The new ride looked sweet and sounded sweet too...Hey Koogs, that track I was showing you...gota second part added to it and some sick drums...seems like I need to keep this stuff directional tho'...later!

thanks for the review Koog. I'll have to look for a show that's close. But for some reason, noone ever comes south of Chicago in Illinois. Oh well, I'll keep checking. Sounds like a great time was had by all. Did you get to meet them?

No, we did not get to meet them. I believe Steve said that this was the last spot on the tour though.......OC, did I hear that correctly? Still, awesome show.

hehehehhehe.....don't temp us! Man, I swear, the stuff OC is doing is INSANE! Really smooth playing. Nice and tasteful. Got some really great stuff happening over there. I was privy to some of the raw material, but, it sounds great. Who knows, maybe we (if he'll let me) tour and make a buck or two?!?! hehehehehe

I can relate -Steve never seems to make it to my area -Southern Ontario in Canada without DP too - no matter how many e-mails to him on his web-site telling him it would be a great idea.

I am hoping that if Satriani ever organizes another G3 tour that Steve is a part of it. That seems the most likely way of seeing him in my area.
