While Christmas shopping I wander into my local Guitar Center that usually has very little or no EBMM stuff.

Lo and Behold: on the used guitar wall they have a JP-15 in Sahara Burst, a Red Semi-Hollow Axis SS, and a Tobacco Burst Stingray guitar. All the axes are in mint condition, nothing but some light pick scratches. All play well and the necks look straight.

It's the day before christmas so there's no way I can drop $6k+ on myself for 3 guitars...plus my stable is pretty full and I honestly don't even have somewhere to store them in the studio.

But I'm going to wait a couple days and go back and see what I can do. The JP-15 is high on my list but the other two are certainly compelling.

I have at least one Stratocaster Deluxe that I might take to trade, maybe even an RG3120 and even possible one of my other EBMM's.

Seriously kept me up last night thinking about what roster moves I can make! Might have to put some players on the chopping block!

A friend offered me a mint American Strat Deluxe for €500 last week (abalone inlays, samarium pickups, s1 switching, locking tuners,...)
Although the price was excellent, I passed : Strat was biiiig, heavy, headstock was so far away when I played, s1 switching was rocket science and sounds average at best, neck is biiiig an slow, headstock is uuuugly with all those "lined-in" tuners...
All-in-all it was a good guitar...but not good enough anymore

I really loved, played and toured my Eric Johnson Strat, but those days are gone!

Lord, have I lost any desire to play anything but a MM!

if my studio caught fire my JP-15 would be one of the guitars I grabbed on the way out.

I sold my 90s MIJ Strat last year after fully realizing that my Cutlass was a far superior instrument. That strat was no slacker either, it just couldn’t compete with the EBMM.

That’s the store in Avondale, right? I called on that ASS SH. They have it priced at $2400, which seems way high. They did indicate a willingness to move a bit on the price, but not enough to my liking. Please post what you find out when you go back.

Been there, done that (the struggle...)
All I'll add is anytime I "caved" and bought an EBMM, I've never regretted it!
Just make sure you get at least a fair price.
Plus GC has that 30 day return policy, just in case...

Can confirm the struggle is real. I bought an Liii BFR and a JP15 in the same week earlier this year. Like xjbebop said though, no regrets.

That's the one. I'm not familiar with the pricing of that particular instrument but the other prices seemed right on. There's just not enough of the ASS in that configuration around to establish a good used price. I played the guitar and it seemed pretty sweet to me.

I think you are right regarding that particular ASS configuration. Not a lot to go on, though judging by a few others with rosewood boards and trems it's a bit high. Might try to get up there next week (I'm in Tucson) but not in a hurry having just taken delivery of that ASS MM90.

I wound up buying the ASS SH with the Reflex mod that was advertised on the forum. Will check out the one in Avondale should I wind up in Phoenix anytime soon.
