what are the differences between all ur JP's? Tuning, Pickups, Strings?

in my case w/ the 3 I have tunings are the difference. I usually kee the same string guage on all (well at least for now....one did have a hybrid set of 12's that I made for a two step down tuning). The one I have tuned down might also get a new bridge pup since I'm not feeling the stock one in it.

WOW spkirby...thanks for the history lesson. My only reply to us Americans is this...sometimes we take for granted what we have and tend to abuse it until it is gone. Then we will form a bunch of committees to rant and rave about what should have been done to prevent it.....but, that is just how our system works over here. I have traveled the world quite extensively and see major cultural differences when compared to our country. But, no one is perfect either....

As for my salary....no big deal. Basically, I think some are interested in what I do just because I can't really discuss it in detail. It does bring up some curiousity I am sure. Just don't like to talk about it. Sorry fellas, that is just the way it is. But, I must say, I would hope that all of you get to a position that makes you a ton of $$$ so you can have fun in life. My work can be dangerous and sometimes I wish I had chosen a different field.....but, it is what I do and I can live with my decision.

Now, on to what I like to talk about....my JP's.

I have always believed each guitar, even the same model, has it's own voice and will sing to you differently. All of my JP's certainly have their own voice, but, you have to find what it wants to say......so here is what each one talks about:

1. Mystic Dream - loves to sing about the blues and is really a pentatonic kind of gal. She is mildly sad, but has such a sweet voice that it could bring a grown man to cry if handled gently. I usually have her in Eb tuning, set up with 10's. Mainly use the bridge pup for I happen to like what she says when "on the bridge." This guitar has had no modifications at all.

2. Pearl Redburst - this one screams HEAVY METAL! She is really aggressive and will bite you if you are not careful!! This one went through surgery and had different pups installed. Dimebucker in the back and a SH-58 up front. She is in dropped D, and likes to get really chunky. This one will pull a pinch harmonic anywhere on the neck on any string....can go from Zakk Wylde to Dimebag at the drop of a....well......dime!! ;) This one is strung up in what some techies here will not understand....I use 9's on it. Most will say I need at least 10's, even 11's, but, I have her set up with 9's in dropped D and she roars.

3. Blue Dawn 7-string - this one has a piezo to boot. So, I can go from shred heaven to acoustical tuesday with. I prefer to use the piezo on this one with a clean channel and top if off with some chorus. She likes finger pickin' and really has a wonderful soft voice for those "Romantic" type of tunes. Any clean, this is the baby I use. This one has not been modified at all either....as there is no need to.

4. Radiance Red - this one will have a piezo, but will be a 6 string. I have not received her yet. So, I cannot comment on her yet. I have really been studying some of Petrucci's work, and I believe this will be the axe for me to use when attempting his work. Plus, it's Radiance Red!! :D

Well, hope that answered some of your questions and YES, this has become an interesting thread. Peace.

Funny thing happened today....wife took a H2 for a test drive....she hated it!! She is a truck fanatic, but she said it was not user friendly for her. Took much effort for her to drive......now she is looking at a Trail Blazer.....she drove one of those today and it is 4 wheel drive to boot. BTW, my wife likes to off road and she does have a specific truck for that, but likes a 4 X 4 just in case. We do get a little flooded out here from heavy rains, hurricanes, and noreasters.....

Plus, I can buy more EBMM guitars now! heheheheehehheheh......HAHAHAHAHAHA...... :D

congrats koog on your purchase :)
