Last Thursday night I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Sunflower Jam - A fundraising event organised by Jacky Paice (Ian's wife) to help with complementary therapy for child cancer sufferers in London.

I handed over the proceeds of the guitar raffle (with many thanks again to the guys from Strings & Things) we held at the Steve Morse clinic during the summer and then enjoyed the evenings musical events as you can see from the following photos.....

Sunflower Jam 2008 - a set on Flickr

All these were taken on an iPhone (so no zoom I really was that close), and next time if Steve needs a guitar - get him to give me a call rather than compromise (Only joking!)

It was one hell of a night.

great Dave, thankyouverymuch!! Seems like a bloody great night!

Maybe I should get one of these OLPs too. Even Steve Morse is playing them! Is he now OLP endorsee? :D

Dave, please tell us, how did the OLP did sound played by SM? Is there a story behind his choice of guitars?

The OLP sounded great - though I think the player has a far greater bearing on things! Not as good tonally as #1 or the Y2D proto but that may be down to the Floyd.

I spoke to Jacky and apparently Steve flew in from Florida that morning and was leaving straight after. Michael Berger wasnt over for it so I guess he didnt have his normal tour rig and instruments.

Didnt matter though - when you watch Steve play Contact Lost and Well Dressed Guitar about 6 inches from your face.......:D

Steve slinging an OLP? hmm...OLPs have gotten fairly mixed reviews (I seem to recall a recent thread on this topic)......but hey. He's Steve Morse. He could string a watermelon rind with wet noodles and still saw everybody else in half.

He's one of my favorite players of all time. One day I will see him live.........
