Wow....I finally got my SBMM. I had my eye on the AX40 since last year I but ended up getting the Silo30 instead. Once I finally got a chance to play one it was much more comfortable to me than the AX40.

Got it home and plugged it in to my Marshall Mosfet 100 head and the thrill to play is definitely back!!! I haven't had this much fun playing in 20 years!! The sounds this thing cranks out are amazing. Incredible after playing a strat copy for the past 25 years.

What a great instrument. And btw, if any of you out there are interested in one of these take a walk into your local GC. You may be surprised at what you see. Peace all.

:D

Thanks - oh man it is unbelievable!

I attached a pic. Sorry for the poor quality. Just a cellphone pic.

Sounds great through my humble set up. I've had that set up for over 20 years now. Still sounds good to my ears - especially now :).

Congratulations on your new guitar.

Might I suggest a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates, and two Texas Specials? Good fit for that guitar.

Nothing wrong with the stock pickups, but I think that upgrade would make you even more happy.

Oh, I just noticed you cabinet in the picture. Funny, I just did the same thing with a Mesa Boogie DC-5 combo. The Combo (minus the electronics) was sitting at my local guitar shop for awhile. It still had the Celestion Vintage 30 in it, so I asked how much. I got it for $125. When I got it home, I closed the back, and partially closed the cavity where the head end would be, effectively "porting" the cabinet. The cabinet sounds great in this configuration. The Vintage 30, being well broken in, sounds superb. I'm running an Egnater Rebel 20 into it, and I can't say enough good things about the tones I'm able to achieve with this setup.

Congrats on that. There is nothing like loving to pick up your guitar every time and enjoy it. Since I started playing EBMM guitars, the joy has never stopped. Even when I'm stuck in a rut playing, or I feel like I suck that day, it's still a joy to hold the guitars and make some noise :). Plus I just love looking at them!

Thanks for the replies - by the looks of your pics you have some nice MM's to play. I of course would have loved to buy one of the American-made MM's but couldn't afford it. I'm very grateful that the Sterling line was introduced so I can enjoy as well.

That cabinet you see in my pics up above - I don't even remember where I found it - I took out everything in it and put in a Peavey Scorpion 10" speaker. I also ported the cabinet by putting a piece of plywood across the back. Sure, it doesn't have the bottom end of a larger cabinet but it sure does the trick for me. I actually thought about buying a new combo but now with the Silo it sounds just fine! :) Can't wait to get home from work and fire it up!
