Well, I've got more than enough to invest in my ultimate Bongo! I've been working 12 hour shifts, and doing as many hours on public holidays as possible (triple time rocks!). Now i've got the money to buy a Bongo with some left over for emergencies (car issues, unexpected bills, etc).

I did have a stepback however in my future Bongo purchase. My brother bought me two Jaco albums for my birthday, and as a result, I had very dangerous cravings for a fretless MIA Fender Jazz. However common sense prevailed, and I've decided to buy the Bongo now, Fender later (same thing I did when I was choosing between a Warwick and the Musicman).

So now, I'm about to begin the hunt for my Bongo. I'm still unsure of what colour/pickguard I want to get, but I'm thinking either Pearl Blue or Radiance Red. I'm most likely going to get the HH combination, but I've only ever played a H/SC config, so I don't know. Seeing how hard Bongo's are to find in Australia, I think it's going to be quite a mission to find this machine. But it's a mission I'm more than willing to accept.

EasyTiger has very kindly offered to help me out with a deal at his shop. The only problem being his shop is in Canberra, and I live in Sydney. But oh well. I'll just put a day aside to go on a cruise.

Anyways, no real point to this thread I don't think. Just needed to share my excitement at the fact that in a couple of weeks, I will have a Bongo in my possession. Maybe longer if I have to order one in to my exact specs. Seeing as I'm in no rush to get it, I'm willing to wait to get exactly what I want.

BINGO BONGO!

We all come by our basses by different means. Your Bongo will have been hard won and so I am sure will be especially valued by you.

All the best in the Bongo quest!

Dude...Jaco would be playing this if he was alive no question in my mind at all. I sold his son Felix my '77 Jazz with J-Retro a few years back but this fretless bongo smoked it and was 4.5 pounds lighter.

Yea, I see only one problem with Bongo's. And that is I'm 90% sure that one Bongo will never be enough. I'm thinking 3 minimum, one of them being fretless.

If you phone CMC, they will be able to get back to you same day with a list of every Bongo currently on the walls of dealers in Australia. You can then choose your preferred color and pickup configuration from that list, and CMC will arrange for the Bongo to be transferred to a dealer of your choice from whichever dealer has it in stock.

BINGO BONGO!

The Ultimate Bongo may turn out to be three or four different Bongos. I could be wrong, but hey, I've seen it happen around here before.

I think it even happened to me.

Good luck on your quest and keep us informed.

I am definitely getting in contact with CMC asap. However, there has been another minor stepback.

I caught up with the guy who taught me bass last night. He doesn't have time to play anymore, and as a result is selling his Stingray, Trace Elliot 10"/15" cabinet and Gallien Krueger head. He offered the amp/cab to me for an absolute steal, and even though I hadn't considered buying a new amp for quite some time, this opportunity is too good to pass up on. So there will be a brief hiatus on the Bongo acquisition while I work like a dog to get some more funds up. Hopefully I'll have the amp within 2 weeks, then it'll probably be another 4 weeks until I can get the Bongo. Oh man, I am buying way too much cool stuff this year. A Warwick Hot Rod, new amp, a Bongo and a fretless something. I was thinking Fender simply because I love those J necks. But hot dang, that gold Bongo makes me feel tingly inside my pants.

I'm going to call CMC soon though. See what is going down.

Easy fixed. Sell the Warwick to fund the Bongo (assuming you can find someone to buy the Warwick, of course :p )

Haha, I don't think I will ever sell that bad boy. The wood on it is just . . . orgasmic. It's such a hot looking bass, and sounds awesome.

I'm quite lucky in the fact that I'm earning good money and can afford to buy all these things I like getting (I have expensive taste).

Like I could work one more week, and afford the amp and the Bongo at the same time, but I hate not having money. So I'll keep working and getting money so that when I buy the Bongo, I'm not breaking the bank or not going to be able to eat til the next paycheck comes in.

But I have a question. Has anyone heard or seen a TE cab with the 15" AND a 10"? I had never heard of this type of combination. I have a 12" and 10" cab, but I made it.

Not TE, but SWR make a cab (the Triad) with a 15, 10 and tweeter.
