Hey folks,

I hereby open the UGLIEST-PICKGUARD-COMPETITION :D

I'll start with stating that I have the ugliest pickguard a Silhouette Special has ever been forced to wear:

IMG_0011.jpg

This was hand-made by the previous owner of my pearl purple Silo Special, had a 3-singlecoil-set installed with an extra mini-JB humbucker in front of the bridge PU to be blended in with a third pot. Interesting idea, but completely funked-up craftsmanship...
Of course this thing will never touch one of my Silos again and remains on the wall as an example for real bad taste ;)

Now show me what yucky stuff you have - or have seen :D

Cheers

Axel

I think tort guards are all recycled garbage. I know some people like em, but it I think it litterally looks like p**e.

anyaways, what spectable animal lover would want a "dead one lookalike" on his guit??
Dont know that I'd be havin one either. But, might be suitable/appropriate for a slow and careful jazz and blues player... on a natchal guitar finish.

gotta go sniff more fumes... someone accidentally exploded a ballpoint pen in the dryer this weekend and now I get to have fun...

I think the worst p/guard i've ever seen has to be that laminated fake wood veneer style as featured on Dan Armstrong acrylics...(otherwise, a very fun guitar!)

...there IS no such thing as a nice tort-guard ;)
Imagine that guitar with a White-Ice pickguard and just drift away on that heavenly goodness :D

But back to the topic - WHERE are those ugly pickguards ?!?! :D

LOL, it's cool, both my specials wear tort. Iffin I get another, say a black or white one in SSS and rosewood, it'll prolly wear tort also.

I have a thing against white pearl. Not on someone else's ax, just my own. Not a white lace kinda guy. There - there's my little dig for the sport of this thread.

Duwat suits ya, baby.

Shane I love that guitar, but a black ice would look great as well, still an awesome guitar - like a better superstrat than a strat -

I dunno, guys. The tort guard on my Desert Gold Bongo looks mighty nice.

Pickguard in isolation doesn't mean much IMHO. You have to show it on a guitar to tell if it works or not.

I wholeheartedly agree! Tort pickguards look great on some guitars, but not so great on others. It looks really cool on that Bongo.

I think that Tort has a time and a place that's for sure. White looks excellent and very classic with Tort, but that's just me. :)
