So I ordered a Stealth Bongo 4 HH from Gard at Bass Central back in February. He optimistically gave me a ship date in late April, though based on what I've read here I figured three months would be more realistic. I e-mailed him a couple of weeks ago for an update, and he said he checked with Ernie Ball and the bass was in finishing and would probably be another few weeks before it got to me. No problem, that's what I expected anyway.

Then two days ago, I get a message from Beaver Felton at BC that it looks like my Bongo shipped a week or two ago, so he was calling to make sure I got it. Gulp. No, I don't have it, but I now have visions of some delivery guy playing my Bongo. He's probably better than me, but that's not the point. :D Anyway, I called back, and someone else at BC said they figured out what happened and the bass hasn't shipped yet. Whew. That's the first time I've ever been happy to hear that a bass wasn't in transit to me.

I'm glad Beaver was confused, Gary.

I'd like to see some more shots of the Stealth Bongos. So, I'll be glad when people start getting them in their hands!

Oh, and I want to see a new family shot when you get the Bongo, too. I miss your basses! :D

BTW--The DC area is on the short list of places Liegia and I are looking into moving to after she finishes law school. So, you might have to lock those basses up in the fuure...

I'm hoping it'll be just another couple of weeks. I will certainly post some pics, including a new family portrait. Actually Jason, I think my basses miss you too. They just don't sound the same when I play them....

I'm a big fan of the DC area. I miss some things about Atlanta, but overall I'm very happy with the move. I drive past the Lincoln Memorial on the way to/from work every day, and it just occurred to me this morning that that's pretty cool. :) If you guys ever come up here to look around, let me know.

Jeez... my heart goes out to you bigtime. My Bongo is only a week late, and I have to scrape myself up off the floor each morning. It's due to arrive this afternoon while I sit here at work. If my super isn't home when the UPS guy comes I may have to wait till monday. I left a begging note for the guy to return after 3PM (when I'll be home) if possible. UPS people are generally very nice, accomodating people. Hopefully I will be playing my Bongo 5er by 4PM this afternoon.

Hang in there. I waited almost 2 years for my first Bongo.

I feel for ya, I've been waiting for my fretless Bongo 5 a bit over w/piezo and can't wait. Its good to just keep your mind off of it. Its been just a tad over 4 months for me, I guess there were some issues in setup. It might ship next week!

in the same boat,

Andrew

Gosh freaking darnit!!!! My wait is over. When my speech returns and I can put it down, I'll give the full review....

I think I just became a full time 5 string guy.

I do I get my self some more space for attachments? My file quota has been taken up with one picture in another thread.

Heh, well, if you believe them when they tell you "July," then you are still naive. :D

The piezo bridge is a system that uses little crystals in the string saddles to create a signal that sounds much like an acoustic instrument. (In your case, an upright bass.) I have this option in my Petrucci guitar, which lets me get acoustic-guitar-like sounds from it.

Piezo 'speakers' are a different subject altogether, and one that I'm not really qualified to talk about at any great length.

Getting closer....

I just heard from Bass Central. Apparently, my bass is shipping out from EB today.

Woo-hoo!

That means BC will have it next Friday and ship it to me the same day, so I'll get it the following week.

D'oh!

Yeah, I know what you mean. But I just got off the phone with BC, and they have my bass! They'll be shipping it out Monday, so I should definitely get it next week.
:D :D :D I don't know where the signals got crossed, but I don't care.
