Hard to say. Ive actually numbed myself out of bass GAS for the time being. I like my two ebmms and cant see myself needing another in the immediate future. Normally Id say a fretless, But ive come to the conclusion that I will never be a fretless player; just not my tone.

So It is tough to say. Depending on what the sterling 5's are like, that may be it. More trouble arises there because I still cant decide whether I am going to be a 4 player or a 5 player. Im not sure I see myself needing more than one 5er. I dont see myself needing more than one 4 either. Just the way I am.

You need a 24-fret bass, so I think you need to order a Bongo!

What's next?

1) A mahogany Bongo just like the open house one, but with 5 strings.
2) A blue-burst Bongo just like the one in the Dargin's Delight thread, but with a pickguard and 5 strings.
3) A firmer grip on reality...Finagle's First Law* states that neither of those two basses will ever be made available, precisely because I want them.

*Finagle's First Law states that "The perversity of the universe tends towards a maximum." In practice, this means that the moment you decide you don't want something, it becomes available, and vice versa. Finagle's First Law governs all such phenomena.

We've all experienced Finagle's First. When you're young you're stronger and attractive than you realize, but you don't know it. You get old and wise and wish you knew then what you know now, but you're heavier, your joints hurt all the time, your eyesight starts to fail, and you don't look so good anymore.

Well then, bongos arent my thing, painted neck*

There are many things that turn me away from bongos :-/ Control layout, shape in general, woods...

They also just dont get my tone, period.

I can't wait for my SR5! Yeah, I still like the Bongo though, I do actually need the 24-frets for chording stuff. Love me some jazz vamps.

This is probably the best picture I've ever seen of Steve Barr. No alcohol, no cornrows, no bass-licking. Just a man and his bass. Sweet.
Mike

The booze was on the desk behind the camera but plauying that bass that night in and of itself was a mind altering experience.
