I hit paydirt tonight at practice while I was screwing around after a short break.

I am running my SR5HH (TI Jazz Flats) into a DBX160A which goes into a MB LMII which then feeds the ever so hungry Eden 410xlt.

I normally set my bass to less mids and slightly more bass and treble with similar settings on the LMII.

For some reason, I turned the bass knob all the way up and the mids and treble all the way off as can be.

Since my setup is very clean to begin with I was able to maintain a lot of clarity in my tone and HOLY BASS BATMAN, did it sound good, no, actually amazing. the other members love the tone. I never thought it would work and was I wrong. I have some serious bottom end and started moving lots of air. It sounded amazing.

Does anyone else turn the bass all the way up or use similar settings?

I just realized I spelled a "bad" word but editing will not allow me to change the thread name, only the content.
sorry

Your tone kicked ass. I think, given the context, we can accept the biblical term "ass", meaning your tone kicked a mule.

I play ALL of my basses with the bass at 10 and the treble at 2-3 or sometimes right off. If it has a 3 band, the mids are set at 2-5. Usually flat and rolled off just a bit.

If I am not cutting during a gig, I may boost my mids a tad and go a bit higher on my treble but that is rare.

I was very surprised by what I heard after I rolled the bass all the way up with the mids and treble basically off. Even the guitarists stated that is was a real big sound yet had clarity.

One would think that setting would make it muddy. I guess with the super clean sound of the equipment setup it was able to handle it.

Now I see that others do the same or similar but most start out flat.

Prior to that I had my mids all the way off and boosted the bass and treble.
