A BFR Luke or a 20th Silhouette...

I have had a few Lukes and always regret not having one when I get rid of it. I think I am too impatient for a trem... and I get frustrated when it doesn't stay in perfect tune... I guess I would need to buy some light oil for it or something?

The 20th is a hardtail...

Any opinions? Both seem like really awesome instruments.

The Luke would be my choice. Both are great, no doubt, but I love me some BFR Luke. The trem can be a bit time consuming to set up perfectly, but yes some Big Bends Nut Sauce or some other kind of lubricant can really help.

I don't have a BFR Luke, but I do have a 20th...and it's AMAZING!

I'd go for the 20th. You can't go wrong with either, but I know you'll love the 20th.

I'd personally go for the 20th. U have plenty of Lukes out there plus many coming. U have the true gold not to far away and I'm sure eventually the luke iii's. I regret never jumping on a new 20th. Either way 20th or bfr Luke it's gonna b hard to go wrong. Txt me pics lol

Get a 20th while you can. Lukes can still be found easily....not so for the 20th.

When you say Luke's can be found easily are you talking about BFR's or regular Luke's? Also, where is a good guitar shop that has a good stock of BFR's and 20th's?

I dont think you will find many places that have 20th Silos in stock. There were less than 500 produced. And I personally have not seen that many BFR LUKEs in stock either, but they are certainly available.

To the OP jptortor, the 20th Silos are great but completely different than the LUKE. I've always loved mine, but just really grew accustomed to 22 fret guitars and the 20th Silo body just seems a bit compressed when I play it.

I have had both. Get the 20th.

But - -

They actually are quite different. The Luke has the active pickups and the distinct neck shape. So one could easily perfer the Luke.

Are the pickups in the 20th different than in the regular silhouette? I have a standard silhouette that I changed out the pickups on and I love it, but the 20th seems to have a thicker somewhat hotter voice. Maybe its just my imagination? Also, does anyone know if the center position splits the coils like on a petrucci?

The 20th has a Dimarzio Virtual Hot PAF in the bridge position with a 9.13K resistance.
The regular Silo has a standard Virtual PAF in the bridge, more like 8.32K resist. So the 20th Silo is a bit hotter in the bridge.
Neck pickups should be the same.
The thicker tone is probably the Mahogany tone block.
Center position is not like the Petrucci, it is both pups on
