Thinking of putting flats on my SR5

I play in a band that plays originals. About half of our songs are modern and rockin', the other half are slower ballads or bluesy. I always bring my SR4 H and my SR5 HH. I'm thinking of putting flats on the SR5 for the ballads and bluesy songs. Anyone else have flats on a ray? What is your experience with the flats?

My SUB came with flats. Pretty sweet sounding. You don't get all those overtones and rich harmonics but then again a lot of that stuff gets lost once the band lights up anyway. They do produce a nice thump with the Ray though. I think they're great for a nice mellow blues sound.

The flats on my 30th Anniversary Ray are never coming off. Love that combo to death.

The great thing about this, is, it's not like buying a car.....You don't LOVE it, you can change it out AND it won't cost you 25 Grand or whatever YOU pay for a Car.

Have Flats on my RAY 5. I'll say first and this is just me...the Flats vs Rounds difference thing is Waaaaaaay overstated when it gets to "tone this" or "traditional that"

BIG BIG Bottom, with presence and punch. I can get that with Rounds or Flats...Flats give me more "GIRTH" whatever you'd like that to mean. Playing live, it's more ME...wider, stronger, longer and the fems seems to get closer to the stage.

Now...my Ray 4 and Bongo have Rounds...I love them..

I have 3 kids also...I don't play favorites, LOVE them all..but in different ways.

It's like that.

Flats on a Ray is a killer combo, in addition to the sound qualities I also find the feel makes me play differently with flats vs rounds.

I have flats on both my fretless Stingray and fretless Sterling and they sound fantastic. Highly recommended. Its a small investment and worth trying out to see how they suit you.

I've got a question with flats and effects. I use a big muff a lot in my current band but haven't tried it with flats. I used to use flats before I switched to MM and before I got my big muff. Is there a big difference for anyone that uses effects?

I have flats on both my SR Classic and Bongo. They are made by that company that Leo originally founded. I love the result.
