Question Third time lucky...

I own a 1991 Music Man EVH and have done so for 11-12 years now. Due to health issues I have been unable to play for a long time and have not been able to give the guitar the attention that it needs.

My first question is this, as we are in a lockdown here in Germany, I currently have nowhere I can take the guitar. Not that I am in an area where there is anybody that I trust to do a good job anyway. So I want to know what jobs I can do myself on the guitar, seeing as I now have the time and my health has improved somewhat?
The Floyd Rose needs a clean for example. I have owned many guitars and done some setup work myself but from what I can gather this guitar is different as regards the neck tension, and removing all the strings to clean the Floyd Rose can be problematic.
Is this the case?

My second question; The stock Floyd Rose on this guitar didn't come with a tremolo arm. Which one can I use as a replacement for this model?

In which area are you located?
Is it a Schaller or Gotho Föoyd Rose?

Hi Sash, it says Music Man "Licensed under Floyd Rose" on the bridge. I'm about 2 hours north of Berlin.

this one should fit, or you can buy a Schaller Spare Part :Floyd Rose Tremolo Bar f. Original/Pro CH – Musikhaus Thomann
or:
Schaller FR-StyleTremolo Arm C – Musikhaus Thomann
I'm located between Cologne and Bonn, so Berlin is to far but if you are willing to ship, I can reccomend some Luthiers.

Thanks for the offer and the info Sash. I will get it set up when lockdown is lifted. There are a few places in Berlin I can go to. I just wanted to do anything minor myself while I have the time. Therefore the question regarding cleaning the floyd rose. I'd sooner remove it to ive it a thorough clean if that is possible?

Perhaps a stupid question : why do you want to clean your Floyd Rose ?
The first guitar I bought was an ESP Horizon Custom in 1989. I played it a lot but after buying my Morse in 2001 (and the other ones ...), my ESP stayed in its case for a LONG time.
Recently, I decided to play it again. I changed the strings, cleaned the fretboard, adjust the truss rod ... and nothing more. And it plays like a dream.

Nothing bad there.
Just remove the strings, remove the dust with an old toothbrush. You can also spray some WD40 on it and scrub with a cloth.
Put some fresh strings ... and let's rock

I would completely disassemble and clean everything with a toothbrush. Lightly lubricate screw threads on reassembly.

Oh, and by the way, removing all the strings is not a problem.

Not sure that disassembling the Floyd Rose is necessary. Perhaps if you want a shiny trem in order to take nice pictures. But if you just want to play, it's not worth the trouble.

It certainly won't do any harm and like I say, I have the time. It would also be a load off my mind to halt some of the corrosion where possible.
