I just found out the other day from a mate, that our local music store isn't going to be selling EBMM guitars anymore, as they aren't selling. And they were pretty much the only guitar store in my immediate area that sell EBMM guitars. Well l didn't find it surprising as they mostly sell mesa boogie amps, PRS, gibson, Fender and Ibanez guitars. As we live in a monkey see monkey do world.

Now l've been playing for quite a few years now, and l know what makes a great instrument (for me, anyway), and the only instrument that has cut it for me is EBMM guitars, l've played all of the above brands (and more) and they aren't even in the same league as EB. Every EB guitar l've played, l've loved, l just recently played a JPM for the first time, and absolutely loved it.

But it seems every kid wants a Mesa Boogie stack and PRS guitar (l've played both, and they aren't that great, l've played though better gear), but my point being, it's getting harder and harder for me and alot of other guitarist l know to get a hold of quality instruments. It's getting to the point if l see a EB or other guitar or amp that l like sitting in a music store, l have to buy it, as l might not get a chance to buy one again, and l don't have an endless supply of money.

Does anyone else feel the same way? or has come across the same situation? or am l all alone? Or does anyone have any comments?

Well sorry for babbling on, but l'm am just frustrated.

Thanks.
Scott.

P.S. Keep up the good work EBMM, your guitars rock, whenever l think of quality in a music instrument, l think EBMM. You can't be beaten.

Scott,

I've noticed that it's hard to find EBMM dealer, but sometimes you need to do the internet thing to find something that's not made anymore.

I've been suprised that EBMM doesn't sell from their website. I mean they sell other things from the website why not instruments?? To high a demand??

Why not cut out the middle man and save some dough in the process. I've heard a lot of dealers saying the same sort of thing that they can't move the product as quickly as some other brands. And I agree with you that EBMM's quality way sure passes almost all of the "popular" brands out there.

The reason those kids want those other brands is because that's what they see in the magazines and such. Or that's what their parents remember as the quality brands when they were younger.

I'd like to see the purchase right from EBMM myself, but that's me.

My $.02 worth.

I have the same issue in my town, but to put things in perspective, my local music store's managers have both told me that if they made their profits solely on guitar sales, they couldn't keep the doors open. The things that do keep the doors open are low-end guitars, low-end amps, and accessories (not strings or pickups).

I can kinda see their point, but yes, it would be nice to see an EBMM on the wall once and awhile. However, I have bought both my EBMMs sight unseen and been overjoyed with both. EBMMs are definately safer to buy in this regard than Fenders, Gibsons or ever PRSs because they tend to be much more consistent. You can feel pretty safe buying one without playing it first.

they may not have one in stock, but chances are they can order it for you.

You may be cofusing with not selling anymore with not having any in stock.

not selling anymore means they will not even order one in for you.

pack-rat has a good point. I ordered my Silo from the local dealer after contacting EBMM to find the contacts. It took a year to get it but it was worth it.

There were no EBMMs on display, the salesman told me it was because the staff bought them up long before they ever hit the showroom floor.

Most companies that sell products through dealers don't sell their merchandise on their own site. It either undercuts the dealers because there is no mark up, or it is a waste of time because people can get them way cheaper from a dealer. I think this is probably the case with EB. They would have to pull out of all their dealers if they started selling online.

It would be cool though, but you can always special order an EB guitar from your guitar dealer, or contact EB directly to see how to acquire one. EB is like most companies in that they want to sell their merchandise, so they are rather helpful if you really want one!

In montreal it's a real joke .. the out of the Main music stores only Steves Music have EB MM ... I went to a so called big music store and I ask for a silhouette by EB MM the guy look at me and say " EB don't do Guitar lil boy ... but if you want to try something as good try this Ibanez "

I was like " AHAH first you say it doesn't exist when so many band and great name of music uses one and YOU DARE TELL ME TO TRY A IBANEZ yeah right "

And I've noticed that Steves ain't selling much either tho I got a Music Man Sterling ( bass ) and I'm pretty sure it's the same one I tried a year before when I got there to get my Ibanez fixed .. but It saved me 500 bucks cause it's been there a while:D

as for guitar I ordered a Silo. ! :D MM RULES ! long live !

I got a buddy who just became a EBMM dealer, so I'll promote him. Deadringer and myself both bought MM's from him. Name's Pete at DuBaldo Music in Manchester CT.

Nice guy! The store's up the road from the GC there and they're aiming to do some big things, such as a current 2nd storefront expansion. Check 'im out!

edit: He just got the word on being a Soldano dealership too. Nice to drive up there and have some dece amps to play the EB's thru.

No, the salesman said they just won't sell the guitars anymore, they had a JPM on the wall, after they sell that, that's it, they won't sell EBMM guitars anymore.

I am glad that l am not alone, i just remember when EVH release his EB, and then all of a sudden every music store had EB guitars, not just the EVH, but Lukes, Sliloettes etc.

But some of you are right, l have bought a Luke when l hadn't even seen or played it, and l would do it again.

But l guess l will just have to put up with walking onto a music store and seeing the same thing that was in the last music store.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Scott.

Oh sure, it may be frustrating now, but in the long run it will pay off for us die hard Ballers.

Twenty years from now, the EBMMs we own today will be worth big bucks, and it will be precisely because there aren't millions of them out there adorning the walls of every music store from here to Antarctica.

All it will take is for a couple top 40 bands to be seen playing them, and then everyone will want the 4x2 headstock.

The quality of EBMM cannot be ignored forever. Any guitar player serious about their playing has to rank EBMM guitars as some of the best playing guitars ever made.

The local store (Atlanta Music Brokers) where I bought my Axis SS, stocks a few Music Man guitars. However, I was told by one of the sales guys that most of the Music Man guitars they sell are custom ordered. They've had a few that have been in the store for a while. They tend to stock neutral colors.

There are two stores stocking EB/MMs in Ottawa - one has a stop-tail Morse in red, a Silhouette w/ trem and a lefty Sil. Special, the other has an Axis and a couple Super Sports, and a lefty Sport in silver sparkle (that I would have bought by now if it was a righty)... all the Axis' suffer from ancient strings and terrible setups, but both stores have had the same stock forever; the guitars just won't sell, at least not against all the other stock they also carry... I can only presume it's because they aren't well known, and the pricing puts them at par with far more recognizable guitars from Gibson and Fender - up here, an Axis costs more than a Les Paul Studio, and a Silhouette Special is a couple hundred more than a Fender AS Strat - that's pretty tough competition in the MTV age...

A thought or 2 here.

This situation seems unlikely to change anytime soon. No advertising here in the states to get their guitars more well known. No extremely high profile (read: hack) players endorsing the guitars. Smaller manufacturing output than big 3.

Seems like things will get worse before they get better.

Those of us on this forum that play eb's consider ourselves lucky to have discovered them given the obstacles mentioned. Those of us that have more than one are a bit glutonous. Some here horde the things like food, water and medicine leading up to Y2K.

One idea might be to start another sticky thread for those interested in selling or buying an eb.

Another idea would be to rent a bus and go to ernie1966 to check out his collection. Almost as nice as looking at the grand canyon:p

Count me in on that roadtrip. Pay homage to the great Petrucci collection, raise a beer, light a few candles...

My local shop has had two Axis in stock for a while now, Teal and Red. The Teal just recently disappeared. They've never had a Petrucci in stock, mine was there for about an hour before I claimed it. Other than that just your typical Fender, LP and PRS stuff. Yawn...

Speaking of not finding anything in stock, what's the deal with EB/MM stickers??? I'm looking for some and can't find anything other than a couple on eBay. Anybody know where I could find some?

thanks,
fred

At least you HAD a place to buy MM stuff, I got my Silo used and I'm still trying to find another one (the place I got mine had two, the other one disapeared before I could get it)

I consider myself very fortunate that I crossed paths with my guitar, since its by far the best axe I've ever encountered.
