Thats an amazing song Keith. Most beautifully written. I can only imagine the emotions that went into the song. My thoughts go out to you and your family.

Thanks for sharing that with us Keith. I admire you for having written it and for being able to post your thoughts so clearly in such difficult times. You and your family have my utmost sympathy.

I've been trying to do something similar for the past few months for two tracks but I just never end up satisfied. One track for a friend of ours who thought he'd beaten cancer but things have returned after nearly 8 years and he's had to go back through surgery and chemo.

The other is the closest to my heart and is for my oldest son, Andrew. He was diagnosed with a malignant kidney tumour 3 days after our second son was born, and only 9 days after his third birthday. He's been through surgery and chemotherapy for the past 7 months, and it's been hell, though he at least stands a good chance of a normal life from next year.

You've given me a little inspiration to get on and finish what I started. Thank you...

Thanks once again to all for such nice thoughts, listening and cheering me up.

i'll never be able to let you know how much it means getting feedback on IF THIS IS GOODBYE.

Ali,

Looking forward to hearing yours. Maybe as soon as you finish, you can post it here and we can continue the thread THIS SONG HURTS to help ease your pain and share the grief. That would be my wish for this thread's legacy. For any of us here that might be inclined to do something similar, please feel free (and good) about lifting the burden off of one of us and taking it until the next person does.

Music does indeed heal, though not necessarily cure. How lucky we are to express ourselves as musicians.

I will extend you the same offer as I did Keith; if you need a spot to throw it online, I'll be happy to help you out with that. Just let me know...

Just to let everyone know, my mom died thursday morning around 1AM, at home. My father and I were with her as she took her final breath.

I'll be playing "IF THIS IS GOODBYE" along with a couple other songs at her funeral on Monday. I hope it sends her on her way peacefully and provides comfort to family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss Keith.
I recently lost my Mom to brain cancer, and I too was with her when she passed.
Just thank God that you were with her when it happened. I'm sure it meant the world to her. I know it did to my Mom.
I too was writing a song for my Mom, but she passed before she could hear it. I played it at her funeral.
The song you wrote was beautiful and very heart felt. I am wiping the tears from my eyes as I write this.
Best of luck to you and your family in dealing with your loss.
My deepest sypathy and condolences to you.
I know you don't know me, but if you need to vent or talk, email me and we could chat.
Steve

Keith,

I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is hard. It's almost 2 years since I lost my dad.

Glad you offered. You can...
1. Pay for my steve Morse ticket 1/22
2. Buy me several drinks.
3. Treat me to a big steak dinner at the coach house
4. Chip in for half of my Albert Lee

So sorry to here about that Keith, you have my every sympathy :( :( :(

You have a lot of guts to get up and play at the funeral, and you have my admiration for doing it. Good to see the sense of humour is there in such a dark time.

That Thursday brings a lot of strange emotions. Our sons last chemo dose was on the very same day. It's a blessed relief that its all stopped, but a strange feeling that he's not now under any form of treatment. We can only hope that he is now cured. The consultant is very positive and reckons his condition has a 92% cure rate. 2 years of ultrasound scans and x-rays before we can finally breath a sigh of relief.

Take care buddy....
