I can understand double-neck guitars but basses as it is are rather large and at 11 pounds, a Bongo 6 would get a touch heavy after a night of 4-5 sets. I can't imagine how much those double-neck Rickenbackers weigh. Guitarists usually have them tuned differently or one is a 12 string, whatever... slap a low B and/or a high C on a bass and you can handle any of those funny tunings that guitards try to impress us with
