This afternoon I visited my EB dealer, Cardiff Guitars, and got to try out the Sterling JP6 type guitar, albeit not through an amp, and I have to say that I was very pleased with it. It was nicely set up and played great. The trem floated more than mine, the fretboard played great and the acoustic tone was hitting me in the ribs. The finish was really nice.

The shop owner says he is doing a good trade in this (JP) model of guitar.

He also had 2 OLP AXIS which once again I have to say, for the money, were bloody good guitars.

He also had some JP6's there. - wish he'd get a Big Al in stock!!

So Mr Park - Thumbs up!!

Haven't gotten my hands on any of the six-string Sterlings yet, but I did play an EBMM Sterling and an SB14 side-by-side a few weeks ago and was very impressed with how close they were. I could tell the difference, particularly in the feel of the neck, but it was a much closer match than my Axis and my OLP. (I thought the OLPs were very good guitars for the price, too, but it certainly didn't feel very much like my Axis, other than the body shape.)

Sounds good, Spud. I haven't seen them (Sterlings) yet either. I have, however, seen a Big Al and have to say it was really cool. I don't play bass, but I wanted to pick it up and give it a shot. The problem was that a guy in the bass section was playing Pink Floyd's Money perfectly and I thought twice about embarrassing myself with the Big Al :) :)

I too played a JP50 unplugged and was impressed at the quality. For the money they are incredible guitars and much more like the real deal than the OLP versions...

I've got my JP's original pickups going to waste currently (since I replaced them with the new Crunch Lab and LiquiFire pickups) so it would be cool to grab one of the JP50s and install the 'real' pickups in it! Might be a good drop-tuned guitar... I've been wanting one for a while now.
