Just thought I'd resurect a Thursday Lunch Thread -
Turkey/provalone on whole wheat, strawberry yogurt - water

And ask

Since Big Poppa is providing us with what may be the concert of a lifetime, just wondering what one of your more interesting (printable  ) concert memories might be. First show / best show / worst show / playing or just watching - etc.

My first concert ever was an eye and ear opening experience, KISS at Madison Square Garden December 1977 (15 years old) first row balcony across from the stage. During the opening pyrotechnics, one of the guys I went with stood up, lit a full pack of firecrackers and through them from the balcony across the floor. In a moment I saw a hand reach over my shoulder, turned to look and he was gone!!

They took him to a room, frisked him, took his baggie and then basically just yelled at him for over an hour. He made it back by the encore, just before his mom came to pick us up. Although not a big KISS fan I went for the experience and it was a good show to be introduced to live R&R.

Cool.

Lunch = Left over pasta , diet pepsi. Also bunk bed purchasing with my wife and kids.

First concert = Great one, the Kinks!! 1982, I couldn't hear for like 2 days. We were in the nose bleed section, but I didn't care it was awesome and man could/can those guys rock out. Tickets were cheap like $15 and tee shirt $15. That same show would cost like $500 easy these days.

Lunch - Frozen Enchilada Dinner & Arizona Green Tea

First Concert - Foreigner, Loverboy, Soft Cell & Iron Maiden (1982). (Iron Maiden was brand new to the US and they weren't matched very well, but they blew the doors off the other bands ;) )

Best Concert - Tie: Dream Theater, Satriani & Kings X (2002)
Rush (1983)

My best performance - 1990 - Finals of our local guitar wars in Boston.

Lunch - crunchy peanut butter on whole wheat, banana, yogurt, water

First Concert - Blue Oyster Cult and Rainbow, 1979

Favorite Concert - Hmmmmm... probably seeing Sammy Hagar in Cabo. Got to hang out with him and do tequila shots in the parking lot of the Cabo Wabo. Great vibe.

Close second Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Many many honorable mentions, I've been to probably 200 shows and have the ticket stubs from every one. They run the gamut from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to Megadeth and all points in between.

This could all be a moot point after September 17th though... :D

Fred, BOC, man I had a chance to see them and I passed and I regret it to this day, the show was awesome as my friends like to remind me all the time.

Though, I know that SLO show is gonna blast all others away. No regrets about going coming from me.

Lunch: aji de gallina (Peruvian creamy spicy chicken over rice) leftover from dinner last night.

First concert: Jethro Tull "Thick As A Brick" had just been released so they were still playing a lot of Aqualung, too - hadn't yet become the cultural icon it is now. Opening band - Gentle Giant. Scared me that time signatures could do that. September of 1972. I was front row center, so close that Ian Anderson hit me on top of the head with his tambourine (and sort of spit on me, too).

Most memorable....any number of Todd and Utopia concerts over the years. Not a big fan of his latest stuff, but hooo, between 1970 and say 1992, the man did very little wrong. Probably my fave was the "original" Utopia concert, Mobile, Alabama, in April of 1974.

Lunch - headed to my local taqueria for a Carne Asada quesadilla and a very large Arizona Raspberry Iced Tea!

First real concert: Cheap Trick w/Herman's Hermits (LMFAO!) @ the San Diego Sports Arena (New Year's '81). Got the arena show bug for the next 4 years straight!

Favorite show attended: It's a three-way tie between The Police/Oingo Boingo @ the L.A. Forum (Feb.'82), Earth, Wind, and Fire (Nov.'94 in San Diego), and each time I see Tower of Power with Rocco and Dave at the helm.

Yeah the original BOC rocked. I went to see them after I had graduated high school in '79. My parents wouldn't let me go to a concert until I was 18 so I missed out on the KISS era... But I sure made up for lost time after that show...

Lunch / Concert

Lunch was a good ole sloppy joe and a diet pepsi.

First concert, you guys wouldn't believe me if I told you, but my older sister took me when I was twelve years old. It was in 1967, and it lasted for three days.

Can you guess? :D

No lunch here :(

My mother wouldnt let me go but I missed Van Halen opening for Sabbath in 1979. I still havent forgiven her for that :) That would have been the 1st.

First concert was Triumph in 1979.

Most memorable has to be Ozzy Osbourne playing with Randy. I saw the Blizzard of Ozz tour and sometime later the Diary tour. Not long after the second tour Randy died.

The one I didn't get to see was Live Aid

My friend and I were working at a restaurant when the phone in lottery started. We called continuously for several hours, (back in the day before computer generated redials) and finally got through and ordered four tickets and then boom - They denied his credit card and I didn't even own a credit card. Click - No Live Aid :(

Lunch was a chicken carbonara sub from Quiznos

First concert was Marillion on the Misplaced Childhood Tour 85

Best concert - hard to say - VH at Birmingham NEC 1993, Kiss on their unplugged tour in 95, Metallica on the Master of Puppets tour right before Cliff Burton died- all great shows. Best in last 5 years was Alter Bridge last December - I enjoyed that even more than DT last Saturday, and that says something. Tremonti inspired me that night - the guy is a monster on guitar
dave :)
P.S. How could I forget, my girlfriend dragged me to American Idols live - now THAT was a rock n roll show to remember ;)
