You know, I saw that Toto gig at Coachella on 9/27. I was thinking, "Too bad the gig's not sometime in October. That would be killer to see Toto and have a Knucklehead get-together." Then, I see this a few days later. Amazing! I hope I can get the time off. We'll see. Hopefully, if I can't get the Thursday, I can at least have the weekend.

Oh...wait...the tour is Friday. I'm going to have to somehow finagle Friday too.

Chicago, Kentucky are doable ride for me.
With a 50-60 hour week job and 3 kids a single day jaunt is usually the best in my situation.

Then again I don't need to be going if I can't make the ride. But it would be nice to meet many of you face to face and pick your brains. (in a good way ). Maybe centrally located as possible in America would be the fairest choice.

Just my opinion, don't roast me for it.

I know that is a thurs but Factory tour and clinics in the factory on friday...Knucklehead Jam on friday night including the best Mexican food anywhere. Margarita's, Don Julio Shot's MExican Beer and Club soda and cranberry with an orange and lime slice.

Satuday Golf tournament for whoever wants to play. I will have at least one of my Pga Touring pros there to give a golf clinic and play some holes with each group. Shopping tours, Desert Jeep tour and pool party for non golfers...Saturday night Rock N bowl party with Biff Baby's Allstars. The host hotel would be Fantasy Springs Casino.

To offset the costs involved for you knuckleheads we will pay for all food and all eb organized activities and ONE night of your hotel. You pay the travel and the rest of the hotel and incidentals.

How does that sound?

The only wrench in the deal is Lukes Baby is due the 27th!!!

Centrally located bash is a seemingly good idea for many. There other reasons why the party in the desert makes great sense, though. BP has already made mention of those.

Just because it's centrally located doesn't necessarily mean that it's any cheaper to get there for people who will fly, depending on their point of origin and the final destination. My airfare to DFW last year IIRC is going to be pretty much the same as my airfare to LAX assuming I get to go to an EB party out there. There are a lot of factors that go into it like how heavily traveled the route is. Are there promotional fares? Does Southwest fly there? Does JetBlue fly there? Does Spirit fly there?

Ok lets look at the "fairness comment"...... This is a company board. To have this event I solicited advice....not votes. The dialogue was transparent and out in the open. Insiders in the company had the same information you knucks had in the same real time as you. There was no clear winner once agian.

Now I understand that I cannot please 100% of the people, but to say the least the entitlement thing has reared its ugly head...."fair"....

I have already had one at the Music Man Factory. That would be a no brainer but it is kind of the easy way out and I dont do things that way. San Luis Obispo isnt going away, we will return. I think that before I spend a fortune going once again to a strange city and burrowing into a hotel that I should give the Ernie Ball team and factory the exposure. Also I know that in my real back yard that I can really please the people able to make it because I can control it better.

If you were me would you spend between 50-75K to go to a strange town or for the same money would you have it in your hometown where you can share this experience with your team? IF we have it in Nashville only 6 or so employees will be there if we have it in our headquarters at least 50 can enjoy ALL of the events. In the desert 275 can enjoy some of them.


You cannot quantify a return on these things. There is no direct return. Period. I love you guys dearly but sometimes I have to explain to you that when I read threads like
"the forum is keeping you in business" I have to respectfully say that if you add up all of the instruments that the forum buys is doesnt exceed 275 (this year more due to the Dargies) which is about 3 days of production, this year it is a week. Keep in mind that the Dargies sold about 250 on this forum but the diehards were about 100. That is also why we have to understand that you guys that get really passionate about your positions need to understand that as diehards you are like cayenne pepper. If I did everything to appease the diehards I would further alienate the fender and gibson hyptmotized masses. A good example is Bass Strings. Over 50% of you use flatwounds. If I just took your data I would buy 50% flatwounds and string the basses up with flats from the factory. The reality in the worldly picture is that Flatwound bass strings represent 5% of bass string sales.

Now you are a very valuable resource and you cannot quantify the lurkers or the power of this forum. Just look at the linkbacks and the spreading the word of new models....We never placed an ad or a press release for the two pickup basses but the world knew which was directly due to the power that we all have created collectively with this beast of a foprm. This is why I put on an annual party to let you know that I appreciate all of your support and contributions.

I wish that I could make everybody happy but if I could I wouldn't be typing here I would be watching a crew of minions directing the dump trucks exactly where to drop the money off.

To those of you who cant make it I hope that things will work out in the future so you can. To those who do I promise that I will throw the best party that our team can.

Please dont say that I am not being fair though.
