practice tip; My high school band teacher always told me
"practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes good"

I think it's a great idea. Just like the toothpick-with-Elmer's-in-the-hole-when-the-strap-screw-doesn't-fit-well trick that I learned here.

I Can't Believe It!!!
Yesterday my LP's strap screw stripped and not an hour later I read your post. Today I tried it and it worked great! Cool how things work sometime! This must be a much needed thread. :D

Looks like this will be our Tip Thread, so I've cleaned it up and ask that you guys don't clutter it up too much with OT stuff.

Here's my tip: Take every gig.

I've played in jazz, rock, and metal bands. I would play bass for anybody in any style. When I started out, I was selective and it was a mistake. Playing music you aren't familiar with (or even a style you don't like!) forces you to re-think your approach in ways you couldn't if you were in your comfort zone. I learned as much playing simple, repetitive lines for a blues/rocker as I did taking the lead in my own band.

the guitar cables with the red neutrik plug which has a mute switch that engages when you remove the cable ACTUALLY work!
just a tiny lil click when you unplug, unlike the usual rumble if your sound guy hasnt muted your strip :)
